About Travis Scott

He is one of the most prominent names in rap, the creator of albums that collectively went Platinum 11 times, the inspiration for the most prominent sneakers of the current generation, the better half of the Huncho Jack duo, at least half of the most prominent Gen Z Power Couple that ever was (#ripKylieTravis .. KylVis? TraLie? We dunno), Mr.AstroMan himself, Travis Scott.

Even living under a rock isn't a valid enough excuse for not knowing who he is.

Travis has gained some tremendous momentum, especially in the last couple of years. He made it big and earned heaps through his music and tours, but also through his endorsement deal with Nike. His shoes boosted his popularity a great deal while earning him roughly $10 Million annually.

La Flame sits on $80 Million today. While some believe his net worth will slow down after his breakup with Kylie, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Early Life

Travis has been in the rap game for almost 2 decades! With the release of his first album in 2008 on MySpace of all places, to his most recent album “Utopia” already getting going platinum in about a year, Travis’ hustle has paid off.

  • Formed “The Graduates”, with his longtime friend Chris Holloway, releasing his first album with him in 2008.

  • Formed “The Classmates” with OG Chess, releasing 2 projects named Buddy Rich in 2009, and Cruis’n USA in 2010. The duo disbanded in late 2012.

  • The success of Owl Pharaoh and Days Before Rodeo in 2013 made a huge impact on Travis’s name. What followed was The Rodeo Tour in 2015, alongside rapper Young Thug, and producer Metro Boomin, earning him some good money.

  • September 2015 saw the release of his first Album, Rodeo, followed by Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight in September 2016, just a year later. Both were huge financial successes, going platinum.

  • Half a year later, in March 2017, Travis launched Cactus Jack Records. Cactus Jack will also become the brand Travis operates his other products in, merch for example.

  • 2018 through 2022 saw the release of multiple singles, brand collaborations with Nike and Fortnite, his own merch release, and much more. He was using his fame the best way possible, capturing every money-making opportunity coming his way and working hard to make them successes.

  • 2023 brings us Utopia, his most recent album, which, in just a year, has already gone platinum.

Family

South Park, Houston was not the best environment for a young Travis, named Jacques Bermon Webster II at birth, to grow up in. It's best said in Travis’ own words, “Growing up, my grandmother stayed in the 'hood so I seen random crazy shit. Mad bums and crazy spazzed out motherfuckers, I saw people looking weird, hungry, and grimey. I was always like, 'I gotta get the fuck out this shit.' It gave me my edge—[it made me] who I am right now."

  • From the ages 1 to 6, Jacques lived with his grandmother in South Park, Houston.

  • He later moved to  Missouri City, Houston, with his parents. His mother, Wanda Webster, worked for Apple, while his father, Jacques Webster, ran a business.

  • With both his father and Grandfather being musicians, Jacques was introduced to music as a career quite early in his life.

  • His school life also foreshadowed his musical career. He was heavily involved in musical theatre as he attended Elkins High School.

  • He dropped out of the University of Texas at San Antonio in his second year to commit to music full-time, when he was kicked out of his house and cut off financially.

  • Jacques, standing at a new path in life, reinvents himself, adopting the name Travis Scott, a combination of the name of his favorite uncle, Travis, and one of his all-time favorite rappers, Kid Cudi, whose real name is Scott Mescudi.
