Leland Tyler Wayne, popularly known as Metro Boomin, is the creative force behind some of the darkest, dopest beats in hip-hop today. If you’ve ever jammed to Future, Young Thug, The Weeknd, Travis Scott, Don Toliver, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, Gunna, or Nav, chances are Metro had his magic hands on those tracks! 

With a career that started at just 16, Metro's influence in trap and hip hop is undeniable. The rapper started to gain recognition when he co-produced iLoveMakonnen’s “Tuesday” in 2014, which shot to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. After that, it was a winning streak! From “Jumpman” with Drake and Future, to “Bad and Boujee” with Migos, Metro’s beats were everywhere, and he wasn’t slowing down.

But Metro doesn’t stop at making chart-topping beats. The man knows business too. As of 2024, his net worth hit a jaw-dropping $45 million, bolstered by smashing hits and smart business moves. In the world of hip hop, Metro isn’t just making beats; he’s making history! 

Metro learned bass and guitar in middle school, and at 13, his mom gifted him a laptop with FL Studio. Though he started making beats to rap over, he quickly found his real talent behind the scenes. 

• With his mom's support, he started digital production, dropping fire beats for his high school crew and connecting with artists on Twitter. 
• Wayne started collaborating with some of the big names in the industry when he was in high school. One of his early collabs was with Bricksquad Monopoly’s Tay Don, which opened doors to link up with OJ da Juiceman and Gucci Mane. 
• Soon, the Young Metro found himself working with none other than Future, kicking off a collaboration that would become legendary.
• Wayne and Future’s track “Hard” dropped on DJ Esco’s Welcome 2 Mollyworld in 2012 and when Future’s debut album Pluto hit the streets, the two teamed up again for his follow-up, Honest in 2014. 
• Producing hits such as "Karate Chop" and the album's title track with DJ Spinz, Wayne proved to be a producer to watch.
• In May 2013, Metro teased his debut mixtape 19 & Boomin, and by October, it was out in the world.
• In 2014, the singer announced a Metro Thuggin collab album with Young Thug. They also released the teaser song "The Blanguage." But, just like some of the best plans, the album never saw the light of day, although a few leaked tracks started surfacing online in late 2015.
• In 2014, Metro also produced Nicki Minaj’s album The Pinkprint with the track “Want Some More” and took the reins as executive producer for Future’s Monster mixtape.  
• In 2015, Wayne executive produced What a Time to Be Alive, the joint mixtape from Drake and Future, and co-produced seven tracks on the project.  
• In 2016, Metro snagged the BET Hip Hop Award for Producer of the Year. 

Leland Tyler Wayne was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Lamont and Leslie Wayne. He is one of four siblings. 

• He was in third grade when his parents divorced and since then he was raised by his mother.
• However, Wayne lost his mother, Leslie Joanne Wayne, in a tragic murder-suicide on June 3, 2022. 
• Being a secretive individual, not much is known about his personal life. It's reported that he's in a relationship with Chelsea, a former "Viner." There are also rumors that Chelsea owned a fashion website. The two have been together since high school.
