About Young Thug

Jeffrey Williams, better known as Young Thug, is no ordinary rapper; he's got a whole vibe!  Thugger has revolutionized trap music and mumble rap with his outrageous, crazy vocals and daring sense of style. Bursting onto the scene in 2011 with the mixtape 'I Came from Nothing', the hip-hop maverick revolutionized the industry.

But his life story isn't filled with only golden rain. Since May 2022, the rapper has been caught in a legal storm, facing serious charges and remaining in jail. Despite being held without bail, he was released from Business Is Business during his incarceration.

The genre-bending rap phenomenon has not been left behind when it comes to relationships. He was once engaged to Jerrika Karlae and is also seen dating Mariah the Scientist now. With six kids and a storied career, Young Thug remains an enigmatic force in the world of hip-hop.

Despite all the drama, Jeffrey amassed a net worth of $4 million in 2024.

Early Life

Young Thug started his career in 2010, featuring on TruRoyal's "She Can Go," but he gained a big break with "Stoner" in 2013. From mixtapes like Slime Season to Business is Business, he's constantly reinvented himself.

  • Gucci Mane was the first artist to sign Thugger to a record label in 2013. He helped Jeffrey to release his breakout mixtape, 1017 Thug which landed on top "Best of the Year" lists.
  • Thug's track "Picacho" wasn't even a single, but it still lit up lists like Rolling Stone's 100 Best Songs of 2013.
  • By 2014, Young Thug was unstoppable, dropping his debut single, Stoner, and notching unofficial remixes from heavyweights like Wale, Jim Jones, and Jadakiss.
  • Thug released Danny Glover, another underground banger that had Nicki Minaj and Waka Flocka throwing their own spins on it. By the end of 2014, Rolling Stone crowned him “hip-hop's new crown prince.”
  • Rumors swirled about a deal with Birdman's Cash Money Records, but it turned out Thug had only signed a management deal with Rich Gang, not a full record deal.
  • 2015 was a wild ride for Young Thug. He dropped fan-favorite mixtapes like Slime Season and teased an official debut album titled Hy!£UN35 (aka HiTunes).

Family

Young was born in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia. His early days were anything but ordinary. He once shared with interviewers that he got kicked out of sixth grade for breaking a teacher's arm! His rebellious streak led to a four-year stint in juvenile detention, but it didn't stop him from blazing his own trail.

  • Thug has a crew of six kids from four different women—three sons and three daughters. He jumped into fatherhood at just 17!
  • Got engaged to Jerrika Karlae, a swimsuit mogul with a touch of music management heritage in April 2015. The engagement was a short-lived affair, ending in December 2020.
  • Found new love with Atlanta's own Mariah the Scientist, in 2021.
  • In April 2020, Thugger revealed a harrowing health scare during a concert livestream. He even hinted at a near-death experience, sharing that he “kind of died.”
