Marc Kalman has been long associated with the fashion industry especially when it comes to working behind the scenes. A glimpse of Marc Kalman’s work can be seen through the merchandise, album art, and branding campaigns he has worked on and created for musicians like Travis Barker and Travis Scott.
So when Kalman finally decided to launch “Still Kelly”, his clothing brand, it was evident that his creative thought and ingenious mind would create something amazing yet direct and simple.
“Still Kelly” is the result of Marc Kalman which provides his customers and clients with a peek into where his sensibilities lie. In a discussion with 032c.com, Kalman talked about how he became interested in the vibe of the word “boyish” and thus named his debut collection Boyish. Kalman had initially begun his brand, Still Kelly with a graphic hoodie that went out of stock in a short time. With that success, he decided to explore further and created his collection which was photographed by Winter Vandenbrink and styled by Pau Avia. The Boyish collection has 39 individual pieces of clothing and is available through SSense retail stores.
In a write-up by Seventeen magazine, it was reported that Kalman has worked with several A-list individuals like the eyewear brand Smoke x Mirrors, MADE Fashion Week, KNG Records, Milk Studios, and A Bathing Ape. He has worked with pop stars like Travis Scott to create promotional merch for the rapper’s albums and the Rodeo Tour held in 2015. Additionally, he also collaborated with the Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker for a special project.
Despite being an extremely popular art director, it is interesting to note that Kalman has a very low profile on social media to the extent that even his profile is set to private. He is followed by singers like musician Diplo, model Fai Khadra, and late fashion designer Virgil Abloh. Apart from the above, Marc Kalman has worked at an NYC-based photography studio named Milk Studios and worked as a fashion assistant at both New York Times and T Magazine.
While talking to the online journal 1985, Kalman was described as the younger version of Fabien Baron, Charles Saatchi, and Steve Jobs all combined into one person. According to People magazine, both Kalman and his colleague Corey Damon Black worked on Travis Scott’s branding as well as merchandise. They also created an art installation for Scott at the SX Tumblr IRL Festival. After a decade of partnership with Travis Scott for all the branding and merchandising design, Marc Kalman has finally started his clothing brand, Still Kelly.
In an interview with Elle, Kalman was asked about how he brought art to the internet and he replied with a simple yet precise answer, “with value and with respect”.
