Sir Lewis Hamilton's Car Collection Screams Speed And Exclusivity

Sir Lewis Hamilton, a 7-time F1 world champion is also a passionate car collector. His love for cars extends far beyond the racetrack, as reflected in his stunning collection that boasts gems like the La Ferrari Aperta and the McLaren F1. 

Hamilton's passion often mirrors his career, with the British F1 driver spending a considerable time customizing his cars. And much like his on-track persona, Lewis is always out there seeking speed, whether he's on the F1 track or the streets of Beverly Hills or Monaco. 

12. Mini Cooper 

Beginning the list with Sir Lewis Hamilton's first car, which he bought in 2002 after getting his driving license. He still drives this car whenever he goes back home, as stated in an interview with express.co.uk. He also stated that “The Mini Cooper was and still is an agile, nippy offering punchy performance.” However, Lewis did not share anything about the car's model year, as it provides him anonymity. 

On "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" Lewis stated "I go past my first school, my first house. No one would expect me in that car, that’s for sure!" The F1 driver's decision to purchase the Mini Cooper did not come out of the blue. He got behind the wheels of his mother's Mini and liked the way that car drove. Later on, he was assisted by his father to buy this secondhand Mini.

11. 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Black Series

Next, we have the 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series which Lewis Hamilton acquired the car the same year, it was revealed in the US. The 300SL gullwing model is one of the favorite cars of the racer. Hence, it's no surprise that the SLS AMG Black Series became a part of his collection.

Lewis bought this exclusive SLS AMG Black Series back in 2013 for a hefty $205,000. Back in the days after buying it, the F1 racer also shared images of him with the car on his social media platforms, which still shows how much he loves this car.

10. 2015 Mercedes-AMG G63 6X6

Lewis Hamilton's 2015 Mercedes-AMG G63 6X6 is one of those vehicles that truly stands out in his collection. In 2015, the F1 racer posted a picture of him standing on the 6x6 on his Facebook page. The picture's caption “So.... Thinking about getting this bad boy” indicated his interest in buying this behemoth.

By 2015 Mercedes declared that the G63 6x6 was sold out, even after that Hamilton's status as a Mercedes-Benz racing driver and championship winner enabled him to get his hands on one. However, this purchase raised numerous questions, with many suggesting that the vehicle was more suited for driving in a city like Dubai.

9. 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

The 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500 is one of his cars that might look like a random choice but according to Lewis himself, it isn't. The F1 driver in 2015 revealed that he owns a red 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500. This was confirmed a couple of years later when he posted a picture of himself with his dog and the red Shelby GT500.

This car closely bears a resemblance to the Eleanor model seen in the movie Gone In 60 Seconds. That is because after purchasing the car Lewis commissioned a replica work on the Shelby GT500 from Classic Recreations, an Oklahoma-based customization shop.

8. 1967 Shelby Cobra 427

Just months after getting his hands on the 1966 model, Hamilton purchased the 1967 Shelby Cobra 427. Despite, the 1967 Shelby comes with a significantly cheaper price tag of $1.15 million compared to the 1966 model's staggering price of $4 million, it is equally exclusive and holds a special place in the F1 driver's collection.

Lewis usually prefers driving the 1967 Shelby Cobra, which helps him maintain the 1966 Cobra in a comparatively better condition. Aside from that, this car comes with a light blue exterior compared to the black exterior of the 66' model, however, apart from that nothing else has been revealed nor the F1 driver has ever been spotted with this car in public.

7. 2012 Ferrari 599 SA Aperta

Lewis Hamilton currently owns three Ferraris and one of them is the 2012 Ferrari 599 SA Aperta. This car, being one of the most exclusive vehicles usually stands out in the F1 driver's collection.

While Hamilton has never shared any images or any details of the car, the exact specifications or the story behind it remains a mystery, however, rumors suggest that he owns a white one.

6. 2014 McLaren P1

The 7-times F1 World Champion purchased the 2014 McLaren P1 in 2015 just after winning the 2015 Bahrain Grand Prix, adding the exclusive car to his already stunning garage. Lewis got the P1 after he transitioned from the McLaren F1 team to the Mercedes F1 team. McLaren also acknowledged this with a tweet featuring an image of Lewis with his P1, captioned “Nice to see you still like McLaren cars, old friend!”.

Hamilton has also posted a couple of images of him with the blue P1, and he has been also spotted driving the supercar numerous times around Monaco. With the completion of the acquisition of this car, Lewis moved a step closer to achieving what the enthusiasts refer to as the “supercar triad”.

5. 2022 Mercedes-AMG One

The Mercedes-AMG One which Hamilton shelters in his garage quite literally represents his career. While speaking to Top Gear, Hamilton said, "I've won the championship in that engine." He also said, "The driveability, the power output, and where the power comes in... all those kinds of things are what I helped steer."

The British racer in 2022 disclosed his plans to work with Mercedes-AMG to create a "Special LH Edition" of the manufacturer's already pricey One hypercar. A total of 275 units of the Mercedes-AMG One were planned for production, two of which Lewis bought, one being for himself and the other one for his dad. 

4. 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari

Lewis owns two Ferrari LaFerrari in his collection, one of which is the 2015 model. He purchased the LaFerrari for a sum of $1.4 million in early 2015. Since then the value of the car has increased to a whopping $3.35 million. And among his array of vehicles, he is frequently spotted driving this particular Ferrari.

Hamilton's Ferrari comes draped in Rosso Fuoco. This shade is slightly deeper and more metallic red than the Italian brand's trademark Rosso Corsa. Contrary to most of the La Ferraris that feature a contrasting black roof, the F1 driver's car exhibits a uniform red all around.

3. 1966 Shelby Cobra 427

The 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 is a car that holds a special place in Lewis's heart. He had eagerly sought after it as before getting his hands on one. Interestingly, rumors circulated that he also owned another of this Cobra but a 1967 model. Lewis did confirm this in an interview with GQ by saying “I got a second one soon after, a ’67 427, which I use more because I want to keep the ’66 one perfect.”

In that interview, Lewis also mentioned that back in 2012 when he found the Shelby Cobra 427 which he was eagerly looking for, he contacted Carroll Shelby to check the car out and assist him in making a decision. Months later, the racer was spotted cruising around LA in his black Cobra.

2. 2017 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta

The Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta is one of the gems in Lewis’ garage, boasting a glossy white finish. He was spotted cruising around in his Aperta in Los Angeles, and one of the stops he made was at a popular Nobu restaurant in Malibu. The racer meticulously monitors the mileage on his two LaFerraris and also keeps a tow truck on hold to pick up the cars once he finishes driving for the day.

The British racer picked up the LaFerrari Aperta back in 2018. The car reportedly cost him a mind-boggling $5 million, making it the priciest car in his garage. And with only 210 units ever produced, Lewis is one of the very few lucky people to own a new one.

1. 1995 McLaren F1

once, Lewis Hamilton was seen driving through the streets of Beverly Hills in his ultra-exclusive, 1995 McLaren F1, specifically the Chassis 044. This car once held the title of the world's fastest road vehicle clocking in a top speed of 241 mph. So, when a clip of the British racer surfaced on the internet, it spread like wildfire.

In 2017, this exact 1995 McLaren F1 was put up for auction at the Bonhams. An anonymous bidder fetched this car for a staggering $15.6 million. Later on, subsequent reports emerged which revealed that the mysterious bidder was none other than the 7-time F1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton.

Throughout his career, Hamilton has bought numerous exclusive and eye-catching cars. However, the F1 driver has also sold a few of them. Below are some of the cars he has sold till now. 

2013 Pagani Zonda 760LH

The most exquisite car in Lewis's collection is the 2013 Pagani Zonda 760LH which was commissioned at his request, hence bearing the initials LH. It is similar to the Zonda 760 RS and features a manual gearbox rather than a paddle-shift one and boasts a distinct purple carbon fiber exterior and interior. Lewis had the 2013 Zonda 760LH for more than 7 years, but he allegedly drove it for less than 620 miles. 

Hamilton was in an accident with the Zonda in Monaco at the end of 2015. However, it was later repaired, and in 2021, Hamilton sold the vehicle to a British collector, who also survived a high-speed crash unscathed. 

2016 Mercedes-Maybach S600

One of Lewis Hamilton's most prized possessions is his Mercedes-Benz Maybach S600. In 2016, as a two-time F1 world champion Lewis received the Maybach S600 as a gift from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas team.

In 2018 interestingly Lewis's beloved Maybach was put for sale. According to Motor1, this particular car was listed on autotrader.co.uk with an asking price of $142,350 which to our surprise, is quite reasonable considering its history. As per the website, the car had $27,500 miles on the odometer and was in pristine condition.
