Former Formula 1 Driver Eddie Irvine's Interesting Car Collection

Eddie Irvine, the flamboyant former Formula 1 driver, had a car collection that would make any petrolhead jealous. Known for his love of speed and luxury, Irvine’s garage once housed some of the rarest and most powerful supercars, including multiple Ferraris like the ultra-rare 288 GTO.  

His passion for high-performance machines reflected his racing pedigree, but in a surprising twist, he eventually traded his fleet of roaring engines for a quieter, eco-friendly lifestyle on a private island. Ferrari 288 GTO

Just like most F1 racers, Eddie Irvine’s love for Ferraris was undeniable. Among his prized possessions was a striking red Ferrari 288 GTO, a car he cherished—until it was stolen in a daring heist. In a twist reminiscent of Hollywood drama (even Sylvester Stallone’s Mercury once fell victim to thieves). 

Taking about Irvine's car, a supposed buyer took the car for a test drive in Germany and sped off the moment the seller stepped out. Fortunately, the iconic Ferrari was later discovered hidden in a garage in Grevenbroich, near Düsseldorf.

Porsche 930

Eddie Irvine’s car collection wasn’t just about Ferraris—he also owned a legendary Porsche 930. This turbocharged beast revolutionized the 911 lineup, outpacing even the pricier Lamborghini Countach. Former F1 driver Jenson Button also have a thing for Porsche cars. 

True to his bold style, Irvine chose a striking blue 930 to match his equally stunning blue Countach, creating a dream garage for the era. However, this iconic ride eventually found a new home, selling via Bring a Trailer in 2021.

Before the Porsche 930 entered his collection, Eddie Irvine already had a raging bull in his garage—the legendary Lamborghini Countach. However, he was never publicly spotted driving or posing with it. The only confirmation came from his Instagram, where he mentioned the car being transported in a container to Northern Ireland. 

A machine built for pure driving pleasure, the Countach would have been a thrill to experience on those winding roads. Whether he truly enjoyed its full potential or kept it as a prized possession remains a mystery that only Irvine could reveal. 

Mercedes-AMG SLS

Who could forget the iconic gullwing doors of the Mercedes SLS AMG? Certainly not Eddie Irvine! This masterpiece of German engineering found its way into his car collection, adding a touch of modern performance to his fleet of classics. 

Irvine proudly shared a photo of his sleek black SLS AMG on Instagram, perfectly posed with its doors open against a stunning beach backdrop and endless blue waters. A car built for both speed and style—just like the man himself!

BMW Z1

Although Eddie Irvine has never been seen behind the wheel of a BMW Z1, reports suggest he once had one in his collection. In 2011, a seller on eBay listed a Z1 for sale, claiming it had belonged to Irvine’s garage. The auction started at $21,403 and attracted 22 bids before closing. Whether he truly owned this quirky, retractable-door roadster or it was just a fleeting addition remains uncertain—but it certainly adds another layer of intrigue to his already impressive car collection!

Aston Martin Cygnet

As unusual as the car itself is, so is the possibility of Eddie Irvine owning one. The Aston Martin Cygnet—a tiny city car unlike anything else from the British marque—was a quirky addition to any collection. While it may seem out of place among Irvine’s high-performance exotics, it remains a rare and intriguing collectible. However, if he ever did own one, it’s safe to say it’s no longer in his possession. A surprising choice for a speed-loving F1 driver, but an interesting footnote in his automotive history!

Some Motorcycles Too!

Not all F1 racers stick to four wheels—many have a passion for two, and Eddie Irvine was no exception. His garage housed not one but two iterations of MV Agusta motorcycles. He was gifted a limited-edition MV Agusta F4 by none other than Giovanni Castiglioni, a key figure behind the brand. However, Irvine leaned towards a more relaxed ride, leading him to purchase the exclusive MV Agusta Brutale 750 Serie Oro. Adding to his collection, he was also reported to have owned a Fantic Caballero, embracing both speed and style on two wheels!
