The 28-year-old Spanish racing driver Carlos Sainz began his career with Scuderia Toro Rosso. He then moved on to famous championship-winning Formula One teams such as Renault and McLaren before landing a driver's seat with Scuderia Ferrari. He is also a consistent performer, which means that he will get points in most of the races throughout the season. Carlos rarely buys cars and most of his garage is filled with gifted vehicles.
5. 2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI
Believe it or not, Carlos still likes to drive his Volkswagen GTI when he is in his hometown. The Volkswagen was gifted to him by his parents as an 18-year-old birthday present. The GTI was one of the most iconic hot hatchbacks and the F1 racer got the MK6 model from 2012.
2012 Volkswagen Golf GTI | Specs |
---|---|
Price | $23,995 |
Powertrain | 2.0-liter turbocharged Inline-4 |
Horsepower | 200 hp |
Torque | 207 lb-ft |

Top Speed | 155 mph |
Carlos was once asked whether the Golf feels slow since he is a racer to which he stated that he drives F1 cars and everything else in the world feels slow. However, it is the practicality of the humble VW that wins his heart and he has been seen driving the car with his father in the passenger seat.
4. 2021 Ferrari Roma
The Ferrari Roma from Carlos Sainz Jr.’s car collection comes as a proper Ferrari grand touring machine, and it has a cool and retro grille design that seems to be inspired by the 1972 365 GTB/4 Daytona models. The Roma was provided by his F1 team Scuderia Ferrari.
2021 Ferrari Roma | Specs |
---|---|
Price | $223,000 |
Powertrain | 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 |
Horsepower | 612 hp |
Torque | 561 lb-ft |

The Yellow Ferrari has been one of his daily drivers and he often shows it off on his social media accounts. The incredible design combined with the unmatched performance makes it one of his favorites off the track. However, he has a new favorite now but more on that later.

3. 2019 McLaren 600LT Spyder
Carlos first showed off the McLaren convertible in one of his social media posts from November 2019. The 600LT Spyder was a gift from the McLaren team after he shifted from Red Bull in the same year. The McLaren Auto team even customized it for the racer which includes both cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. However, the same company car was taken back after he signed with Ferrari for the 2021 season.
2019 McLaren 600LT Spyder | Specs |
---|---|
Price | $259,000 |
Powertrain | 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 |
Horsepower | 612 hp |
Torque | 561 lb-ft |
Transmission | 8-speed automatic |
0-60 mph | 3.1 seconds |
Top Speed | 199 mph |
The track-ready rear-wheel drive supercar already had a lot of aero kits in its stock options but the modifications take it to a whole new level. The 600LT has a Dark Silver exterior with Metallic Green flakes that change its appearance depending on the angle of the light falling on it. The carbon fiber bucket seats have contrasting Orange seatbelts while the gloss Black and Silver spokes are contrasted with Orange brake calipers. To be honest gifts must not be taken back and this was his reaction upon returning the car.
“They took away the car from me, the day i signed with ferrari’
“ you can imagine how tough it was for me to walk to work everyday”

2. 2020 McLaren 720S
Carlos has another McLaren in his garage and the 720S was a parting gift from the team when moved to Ferrari at the end of the 2020 season. Unlike his 600LT the 720S isn’t a customized version and it comes with stock paints and features. The McLaren team did remember the racer's likeness towards darker shades and offered the McLaren in a subtle Gray exterior.
2020 McLaren 720S | Specs |
---|---|
Price | $305,000 |
Powertrain | 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 |
Horsepower | 710 hp |
Torque | 568 lb-ft |
Transmission | 7-speed DCT automatic |
0-60 mph | 2.8 seconds |
Top Speed | 212 mph |
The interior has a similar Gray shade with Orange accents and Carlos has the same old combination of Black and Orange for his rims and brake calipers. The stock variant of the McLaren 720S comes with enough flares and features on its own and Sainz Jr. doesn’t have any additional bells and whistles in it. Anyways, this car has now reached Bell and Colvill for change of hands and the same was shared on their social media account as under:
1. 2021 Ferrari 812 Competizione
The Ferrari 812 Competizione is the only car that Carlos Sainz Jr. ever bought and he got himself an extensively modified version. He teased his fans back in 2021 with a sneak peek of the Ferrari Tailor Made program and he received the fully customized car in 2023. The stunning shade of satin silver on the exterior looks breathtaking and a part of the hood comes in glossy carbon fiber with bright red accents.
2021 Ferrari 812 Competizione | Specs |
---|---|
Price | $602,000 |
Powertrain | 6.5-liter V12 |
Horsepower | 819 hp |
Torque | 510 lb-ft |
Transmission | 7-speed DCT Automatic |
0-60 mph | 2.6 seconds |
Top Speed | 212 mph |
The red accents further continue to the front splitter, rear diffuser, side skirts, and air vents. The black rims with contrasting red calipers are the perfect match for the Ferrari 812. On the inside, it has Red and Gray Alcantara leather bucket seats and the driver door trim has “Smooth Operator” written on it. Carlos’ number 55 can be found on the floor mats.
