The USA men’s basketball team retained its Olympic champion title and became the Olympic champions for the fifth time after winning the final match against France 98-87. This triumph enhanced Team USA's history, as it emerged as the team triumphed in the sport for the 17th Olympic trophy. 


Stephen Curry's late avalanche

Stephen Curry, the star player of the evening, delivered a "godlike performance" in the game's closing moments. In the final 2:43, Curry scored four 3-pointers, including the one that narrowly won the game with 1:19 left. With the United States leading 93–84, he yelled and shook his jersey so everyone could see the "USA" across the front as he skipped down the floor. His heroics at the end of the game guaranteed that the USA held off a determined French team led by NBA Rookie of the Year Victor Wembanyama.   


US dominates 2024 Summer Olympics

Team USA emerged as the dominant force in the medal count at the end of the 2024 Summer Olympics. American athletes demonstrated their skill over 16 days of fierce competition in 32 sports, and they finished with 126 medals.

The outstanding accomplishments of the women's basketball team were a major plus for the USA. They prevailed 67-66 against France in a nail-biting final to earn their eighth consecutive gold medal in the Paris Games final, becoming the most dominant team in Olympic history.


Paris hands over the torch to Los Angeles in style

The Paris Olympics ended at Stade de France with a spectacular Closing Ceremony, with maddening performances from Snoop Dogg and Billie Eilish followed by Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise making a spectacular entrance. Cruise soared in with an impressive stunt to receive the Olympic flag from Simone Biles and chaperone it to its new home in Los Angeles. As the  2024 Olympics conclude, the world sets its focus on the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
