'Emilia Pérez' and 'Wicked' Lead the Charge
"Emilia Pérez," a French musical set in Mexico City that follows the story of a transgender cartel commander, has six entries on the shortlist. Notably, it had many
entries in the Original Song category, with songs such as "El Mal" and "Mi Camino" attaining popularity. Furthermore, the picture is a strong contender for the International Feature picture category.
The musical adaptation "Wicked" has also had a significant impact, advancing in various categories. Despite utilizing elements from the original stage musical, its score is still in contention, unlike "Dune: Part Two," which was ruled ineligible for Original Score due to the repetition of prior themes.
