A Bit About The Legendary W190E
Way back when Mercedes decided to dive into the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft), and that’s how the iconic Mercedes-Benz W201/190 E was born.
After the first W190E made waves, Mercedes and Cosworth teamed up again to drop the Evolution II in 1990. This bad boy didn’t just get a power boost; it was all about that aerodynamic finesse, making it one of the few rides tested in wind tunnels.
Under the hood, it packed the same engine as the first Evo, but this time it came with the AMG DTM18000 package. Think new camshafts, a bigger throttle body, revamped ignition, and upgraded intake and exhaust systems. We’re talking about a total output of 232 hp, letting it hit a top speed of 155 mph.
With a full SLS suspension and wind tunnel-tested bodywork—complete with a massive rear spoiler and a sleek set of 17-inch alloy wheels—this machine had a drag coefficient (cd) of just 0.29. That’s pretty wild for a production car!
The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine pushed 232 hp and 185 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed Getrag manual. It could sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 7 seconds—impressive even by today’s standards.
Asap Rocky And His Undying Love For Mercedes W190E EVO2
The one in A$AP Rocky’s garage is one of just 502 models ever made, and true to his style, he had it heavily customized. Rocky brought in AWGE as the creative force behind the car, and the result? A real head-turner.
This W190E rocks a symmetrical black-and-white paint job with golden accents on the grille, side mirrors, and door handles. The wheels are all custom, sitting on lowered springs, while those stunning BBS wheels feature a painted black and white fascia, classic chrome lips, and a sleek white multi-spoke concave design, all popping thanks to red brake calipers.
The headlights? They’ve got a cross-design vibe going on with a subtle green glow coming from above the oversized carbon fiber spoiler. You’ll also catch some dope phrases like “Alway$ $trive and prosper” and “If Not Then When” on the door panels. The rear window’s got louvers and a flashy “A$AP” registration plate that you can spot from a mile away. Inside, it’s decked out in Alcantara with bucket seats and a steering wheel sporting a yellow 12 o’clock marker.
Gamers can take this ride for a spin in Need for Speed Unbound and Need for Speed No Limits. There’s a takeover event where you can customize a stock replica of Rocky’s build while jamming to his track “Palace.”
