Legal Victory Inspires A$AP Rocky And Rihanna's Baby Name Choice: Meet 'A$AP Joe

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna have found a unique way to express their gratitude to the lawyer who helped them win a felony shooting trial. Joe Tacopina, the lawyer who successfully represented the rapper and secured a not guilty verdict on Tuesday, February 19, has been honored with a special promise. The couple has vowed to name their third baby after him.

A$AP Rocky and Rihanna’s Promise

In a video interview with extra posted one day after three week’s legal proceedings wrapped up in Los Angeles, Joe Tacopina told the media that the couple promised him to name their 3rd baby after his name. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky said to me in the courtroom yesterday, they grabbed me and said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe,'” Tacopina told the outlet, smiling. The couple have every possible reason to honor tacopina. 

Background of the trial

A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, faced two felony charges for assault with a semiautomatic firearm stemming from a 2021 incident with his former friend, Terell Ephron, also known as A$AP Relli. After five hours of deliberation, a jury in Los Angeles found Mayers not guilty on all charges.

This verdict protects him from a possible 24-year prison sentence. Throughout the trial, Mayers claimed he was innocent. His defense team argued that the allegations were false and that there was no reliable evidence against him.

Moments after not-guilty verdict

When the jury announced the not-guilty verdict, A$AP Rocky ran from the defendant’s stand, jumped over a courtroom railing, and hugged Rihanna tightly. She later posted on Instagram Stories, “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE! THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!”
