Alejandro G. Iñárritu will begin the shooting of his next English-language film starring Tom Cruise in the UK. While the shooting date is yet to be confirmed, the untitled film is his second English language project since the last The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio was released in January 2016. The film is coming to fruition thanks to the collaboration between Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be produced and directed by Iñárritu based on a script he has co-written with Birdman writers Nicholas Giacobone, Sabina Berman, and Alexander Dinelaris. Although plot details have not been revealed, the project also has included stars like Sophie Wilde, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, John Goodman, and Michael Stuhlbarg.

According to the official description of the film, it is about the most powerful man in the world going on a mission to prove that he is humanity’s savior. Both the actor and director are quite well-known for their direction and acting skills. Tom Cruise recently acted in the latest instalment of the Mission Impossible series Dead Reckoning as well as Top Gun: Maverick. This film is one of the many films which will be considered as a reunion for Jesse Plemons and Tom Cruise after the 2017 action-comedy film, American Made.

One of Cruise’s upcoming films is the eighth film in the Mission Impossible series as well as an action movie from Universal Studios by Doug Liman that would be the first civilian to do a spacewalk beyond the International Space Station.

Iñárritu in his capacity has won multiple awards for films like ‘Birdman’, and ‘The Revenant’ in 2015 and 2016 respectively. His next project was the very popular virtual-reality short film named “Carne y Arena” (Flesh and Sand) which showed the viewpoint of Mexicans crossing the US-Mexico border in the company of a coyote. The feature debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 and won a special achievement Oscar in 2018.

He also co-wrote, directed, edited, produced, and co-scored the 2022 film Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths. The film went on to win an Oscar nomination for Best Cinematography. Warner Bros and Cruise have also signed a deal to not only produce but also develop theatrical films with the last film being Edge of Tomorrow about a decade ago.
