Wicked Becomes Highest-Grossing Broadway Adaptation Surpassing Mamma Mia

The cinematic adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked has not only captivated audiences worldwide but also shattered records at the box office. Since its release on November 22, 2024, the film has grossed an astonishing $634.4 million worldwide, surpassing the $611.5 million record previously held by another musical Mamma Mia! (2008). 

This milestone cements Wicked as the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway show, setting a new benchmark for musical adaptations.

Broadway to Glory

Jon M. Chu’s Wicked has dazzled viewers with its stunning visuals, tempting storytelling, and amazing performances by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Its success extends beyond the screen, as the Broadway production of Wicked experienced a resurgence, pulling in nearly $3 million during Thanksgiving week, the highest among Broadway shows.

From Big Screens to Home Viewing

Wicked is now available for streaming, and Fans can purchase or rent the film on digital platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV+, and Fandango At Home starting December 31, 2024. This does add more to its successful journey, as it was perfectly timed for New Year's celebrations.
