Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson once again captured social media's attention during the 2025 Golden Globes as the former co-stars exchanged what appeared to be a smirky smile during the event.

A Light Moment Amidst Old Tensions

The audience at the Beverly Hilton had a light-hearted laugh at the duo when Vin Diesel took the stage to present the Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award, which went to The Wicked.

Sitting front and center, actor and former professional wrestler, Dwayne Johnson received what seemed to be an unexpected "hi" from Dominic Torreto, sparking speculation about their brotherhood. Given the well-documented feud between the Fast & Furious co-stars that began in 2016, the moment felt a bit tinged with awkwardness.

The Origin of the Feud

The conflict between these two Hollywood stars initially escalated in 2016 when the Jumanji star, in a since-deleted Instagram post, praised his female co-stars while indirectly criticizing certain male colleagues. "Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t.  The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses," he wrote.

Speaking about his Fate of the Furious co-actors, Johnson had said in his post, "There’s no franchise that gets my blood boiling than this." Addressing his fans, he added, "When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I'm not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you're right."

A Step Toward Reconciliation

Despite their rocky history, Diesel, the main protagonist in the Fast and Furious franchise, has since sought to cool tensions, speaking publicly about their relationship.

"I think some things may be blown out of proportion. I don't think that was his intention," Diesel said, referring to Johnson's earlier comments. He further added, “I know he appreciates how much I work on this franchise. In my house, he's Uncle Dwayne.”

Moving Forward Together

The air between the two seemed to clear further in June 2023 when Dwayne Johnson took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to confirm his return to the Fast & Furious franchise and address their past differences.

"Last summer, Vin and I put all the past behind us," Johnson wrote on the social media platform, emphasizing a focus on "brotherhood and resolve" to take care of the franchise, its characters, and their loyal fans.

While the Golden Globes moment hinted that their rapport may still be a work in progress, fans are optimistic about seeing the duo light up the big screen once more.

Star-Studded Golden Globes Night

The 82nd Golden Globes, held in Los Angeles, crowned winners like Emilia Perez, The Brutalist, and Shogun. Meanwhile, celebrities such as Selena Gomez, Zendaya, and Taylor Swift turned heads with their dazzling red-carpet appearances.
