The Weeknd Teases Final Trilogy Song and Announces One-Night-Only Concert in Sao Paulo

The Weeknd has given fans a glimpse of a new euphoric track that hints at the final installment of his album trilogy, which began with “After Hours” and continued with “Dawn FM." The teaser, shared through a cinematic trailer, features a young boy attempting to escape a dark world, accompanied by The Weeknd’s haunting vocals. The trailer also includes a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche: “When you gaze long enough into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”.

Two Years Since “Dawn FM”

It’s been over two years since “Dawn FM,” and fans are eagerly awaiting Abel’s next musical era. One fan exclaimed, “This sounds insane,” while another declared, “THE KING IS BACK!!!” Some fans even believe this new era could surpass the 2012 “Trilogy” compilation album, with one stating on X, “Off rip 10x better than the first Trilogy and it’s not even complete yet. Forget world building, this is something built beyond our own understanding!”

2024 seems to be another busy campaign for the Canadian artist, since he would be returning to South America for a one-night-only show in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on September 7 at Estádio MorumBIS. The show will feature "never-before-seen production," according to a press release. Produced by Live Nation, the Brazil show comes nine months after the superstar performed in São Paulo for two nights during his After Hours Til Dawn Tour.

The tour grossed over $148 million gross sales and sold more than 1 million tickets in its first leg across North America. The second leg of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour grossed $192.5 million and ranked eighth on Billboard Boxscore’s top tours of 2023. The Weeknd, who is also a United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador, will donate $1 from each ticket sold for his special São Paulo show to the XO Humanitarian Fund, aiding the U.N.'s response to the global hunger crisis. Recently, he became the first Canadian artist to achieve seven diamond-certified singles, with the RIAA certifying his Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits “Save Your Tears” and “Die for You.” This milestone makes him the fourth artist overall to have seven or more diamond tracks, each marking at least 10 million equivalent units sold.
