The Weeknd, born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, has finally released Hurry Up Tomorrow, his latest and final album in the 'After Hours' trilogy. The final chapter started streaming on January 31, 2025, with a 22-track collection showcasing Tesfaye's signature blend of electronic and R&B sounds.


Collaboration 

Released, this is enriched by collaborations with artists like Anitta, Florence and the Machine, Future, Travis Scott, Metro Boomin, Lana Del Rey, Pharrell Williams, and Playboi Carti.


Album Overview

Hurry Up Tomorrow is described as a "feature film-length album" with 22 tracks that have a collective streaming duration of around 90 minutes. To promote his latest album, The Weeknd has already done a São Paulo concert in Brazil, which had several unreleased songs such as "São Paulo" (featuring Anitta), “Wake Me Up," "The Abyss," and "In Heaven" from ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow album.’ The Weeknd also showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on January 30th to perform. 


The Delay

The album was supposed to be released at least a week early. However, due to California, the album release concert at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl was delayed. Additionally, the Grammy award-winning singer donated $1 million to various charities including the LAFD Foundation, and the LA Regional Food Bank. 

 


Critical Reception

Critics have lauded the album for its ambition and cohesiveness. The Independent praised it as a "spectacular final chapter,” whereas Billboard calls it “a poetic end to The Weeknd’s career.” Sequel to After Hours and Dawn FM, the final chapter in the trilogy has been praised by Ratings Game Music as well. It stated that “The album’s flow is almost cinematic, with songs seamlessly transitioning into each other, creating a fluid listening experience”.


Fan Reactions

Fans have expressed overwhelming enthusiasm for Hurry Up Tomorrow. On Reddit, one user declared it "the strongest 10/10 of the 2020s so far," while another described it as the “album of the decade so far.” On X (formerly Twitter), users shared their excitement, with one stating, "Listening to Hurry Up Tomorrow for the first time is just thinking a song is gonna be the best on the album then you listen to the next song." Meanwhile, on YouTube, one fan wrote “I just listened to the entire album. I was on my knees crying by the last song. Listen again alone.” Another listener expressed his thoughts as “This is the best album I've ever heard in my whole damn life…” From Travis Scott featuring “Reflections Laughing” to “Open Hearts”, fans are digging almost every single track. On X (formerly Twitter), “Hurry Up Tomorrow” is already being held as the album of the year.

Hurry Up Tomorrow has been called “too personal” because it touches the raw emotions of the fans who can relate to Weeknd’s struggles. However, he is not done yet being this ‘Popular’, you can just ask Madonna for confirmation. The Weeknd will be starring in the upcoming film “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” which is set to release on May 16, 2025. He will be sharing the screen with Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and Gabby Barrett.
