The Weeknd Tops Billboard 200

The Weeknd has scored his fifth No. 1 album with Hurry Up Tomorrow, which debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart (dated Feb. 15). The album earned 490,500 equivalent album units in its first week, making it the biggest debut of 2025. It also marks The Weeknd’s largest sales week ever, surpassing After Hours by 6,000 units.

A Record-Breaking Debut

Out of the 490,500 total units, 359,000 came from album sales, making it the No. 1 album on the Top Album Sales chart. Streaming contributed 130,500 units, which equals approximately 171.5 million on-demand official streams. An additional 1,000 units came from track-equivalent album (TEA) sales.

This is the biggest week for an R&B/hip-hop album since Travis Scott’s Utopia debuted with 496,000 units in August 2023.

Album Details & Special Guests

Hurry Up Tomorrow was released in multiple formats. The standard digital edition includes nine songs, while an 11-track version was made available on CD, vinyl, and cassette. A deluxe digital and streaming edition features 22 tracks, including exclusive bonus songs.

The album was also released in two exclusive digital versions on The Weeknd’s website, each featuring at least one additional track.

The album features collaborations with several major artists, including Anitta, Playboi Carti, Travis Scott, Lana Del Rey, Future, Florence + The Machine, Justice, and Giorgio Moroder.

Upcoming Film Based on the Album

A film inspired by Hurry Up Tomorrow, produced by Lionsgate and directed by Trey Edward Shults, is set to release on May 16. The suspense thriller stars The Weeknd, Jenna Ortega, and Barry Keoghan and features music from the album.

The Weeknd’s Future in Music

In an interview, The Weeknd hinted that this album might be the last under his current moniker. He described it as the final part of a trilogy that started with After Hours and Dawn FM.

“I don’t think I can stop making music,” he said. “But the Weeknd, as a persona, has been mastered. No one can do it better than me, and I’ve done everything I wanted to.”
