A lawsuit accusing Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been dismissed. The accuser’s attorneys, Tony Buzbee, and Antigone Curtis, filed a voluntary dismissal with prejudice, meaning the case cannot be refiled in its current form.

Jay-Z’s Response: A “Victory” Amid False Allegations

Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, issued a statement through Roc Nation, calling the dismissal a “victory.” He condemned the lawsuit as “frivolous, fictitious, and appalling” and expressed frustration that his family had to endure such accusations.“

This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere,” Jay-Z said. “The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

His attorney, Alex Spiro, echoed these sentiments, stating, “Jay has done what few can—he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”

The Legal Battle and Accuser’s Changing Story

The lawsuit was initially filed in October 2024 against Diddy, with Jay-Z’s name added two months later. The accuser claimed that the two rappers raped her at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.

However, in a December interview, Jane Doe acknowledged that not all the details were clear, stating, “I may have made a mistake in identifying,” and mentioned that there were inconsistencies in her account, including misidentifications of attendees and errors with the timeline. These inconsistencies led Jay-Z’s legal team to file a motion to dismiss the case, which was granted by United States District Judge Analisa Torres last month.

Jay-Z also alleged that his legal team received a “blackmail” attempt to settle out of court, which only motivated him to fight back publicly.

Diddy’s Ongoing Legal Troubles

While this lawsuit has been dismissed, Diddy remains embroiled in legal battles. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, facing charges of racketeering and sex trafficking. He has been denied bail three times and is set to stand trial on May 5, 2025, where he could face life in prison.

Diddy’s legal team responded to the lawsuit’s dismissal, stating, “This is another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.” They insist that “no number of lawsuits, sensationalized allegations, or media theatrics” will change the fact that Diddy has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone.

What’s Next?

With Jay-Z clearing his name, the focus now shifts to Diddy’s upcoming trial. His legal team remains defiant, but with multiple lawsuits still pending, his future remains uncertain.
