The series of events has been nothing less than a thriller. After reports suggested that Alvarez ditched the Crawford fight to take on Jake Paul, a new development will have Alvarez ditch Paul for a four-fight deal with Riyadh Season, bringing back the much-awaited Crawford fight.

What’s Happening?

On 4th, we covered that Alvarez will be facing off against Crawford in a September event for the Riyadh Season. However, there was some skepticism as well since both fighters had a massive weight difference. To everyone’s surprise, Alvarez ditched the Crawford fight to take on Paul on the 5th of May
Just as we are gearing up for the novelty fight, another shocking development now suggests that Canelo Alvarez will go back to the Riyadh Season to sign a four-fight deal with a headliner event with Terrence Crawford.

Alalshikh saves the day

Alvarez and Paul’s matchup had disappointed a fair share of Alvarez fans for not taking on a “real” fighter but before things became concrete, Alalshikh’s announcement brought Alvarez Vs Crawford back to life. Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, announced the deal on Thursday evening, confirming Alvarez’s involvement in the Riyadh Season.

The Deal

Reports suggest that Alalshikh made it clear that if Alvarez went ahead with Paul for the May bout, the lucrative three-fight deal for the Riyadh Season would be off the table. It is also speculated that Alvarez was not keen on fighting a “YouTuber” but just needed a fight before his September showdown with Crawford.
Irrespective, the fight with Paul has been replaced with a four-fight deal. The deal also included Alvarez debuting at the capital of Saudi, Riyadh, for his May fight before he takes on Crawford.
Talking to ESPN, Alalshikh said, “Canelo only fights real fighters.” Alvarez also replied to Alalshikh’s announcement on social media with “Let’s go brother.”
