The Grammy-winning rapper will return to the music scene with a new' Chromakopia' album. The first teaser of his eighth album was released on October 16 along with the cover art for the new album. The teaser also included the release date of the album, which is a surprising change from a Friday to a Monday. It is interesting to note that Tyler the creator had released an album every alternate year since his debut with the Goblin album in 2011. However, that run came to a screeching halt when no album announcement was made by the rapper in 2023.
Through the Chromakopia website, Tyler the Creator has ensured that his fans can not only pre-save the album but also order combined merch that is based around the Chromakopia theme. The merchandise includes tote bags, CDs, mini Chromakopia containers as well as hoodies and hats. Fans have already received the first glimpse of Tyler the Creator stepping into his new era with the sharing of a clip from his “St Chroma” music video.
Tyler the Creator has collaborated with old and new friends for the creation and completion of the album. Daniel Caesar, a reputed R&B songwriter has revealed his involvement in the mysterious vocals in St. Chroma along with the credit of Noid including Thundercat’s vocals. Apart from the above, Emmy award winner Ayo Edebiri features in the music video as one of the obsessed fans who taunts Chroma with a weapon. The album will be released at 6 am today while the teasers for the tour and three songs “St Chroma”, “Noid”, and “Thought I Was Dead” have been released on YouTube and Spotify respectively.
Tyler the Creator is slated to perform at the Camp Flog Gnaw festival held in the Dodger Stadium on the weekend of November 16 and 17. Attendees may be able to hear songs from his upcoming album although the full festival lineup is awaited.
