Apple Original Films, sticking to its hybrid strategy, has changed with the release plans of the George Clooney-Brad Pitt drama “Wolfs”. Apple has limited the movie’s theatrical release turning the majority of its attention to Apple TV+ and has also convinced director Jon Watts to make a sequel of the same.

Theaters bow before Apple TV+

Wolfs”, a thriller drama, directed by Jon Watts starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, was supposed to have a wide theatrical release. Apple has reportedly changed those plans and the volume of theatrical release has shrunk for the movie.
The crime drama will still premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival as previously announced but the movie will run in a limited number of theaters. Apple announced that “Wolfs”  will hit the big screens on September 20, and within just a week, it will have its global debut on Apple TV+
Apple usually maintains its hybrid strategy of wide theatrical release followed by streaming service release. However, the difference this time should not be a concern for the filmmaker as Apple Original Films has already made a deal with him to write, direct, and produce the sequel of the movie.

George Clooney-Brad Pitt Magic

The trailer of “Wolfs” is already out and the Pitt-Clooney magic proves that Apple did the right thing by deciding on a sequel even before the movie was released. George Clooney and Brad Pitt are friends off the screens and their dynamics reflect beautifully on the screen.
The duo has appeared together in 5 movies so far (not counting their voice acting in Ryan Reynolds starrer “IF”). The “Ocean’s” trilogy was a star-studded affair and their chemistry was the soul of the franchise. They gave a stellar performance for “Burn After Reading” and fans are truly hoping that their nearest theaters are among the limited ones chosen by Apple to run “Wolfs”.
