Selfish Who? Ronaldo Chooses Friendship Over Himself

Two close friends - Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo recently had a conversation on CR7’s YouTube channel. The former created a tricky situation for Ronaldo where he had to choose between his friend Rio and himself. The legend picked his long-time comrade over himself proving he might not be as selfish as some might claim. 

Ronaldo, on numerous occasions, has claimed that he is the best football player in the world. Despite comparing himself with the former late legends like Pele and Maradona and having a contemporary who has more trophies than any other player, Ronaldo never changed this opinion of himself. As a result, many people claim that he is a very selfish person on and off the field.

Well, there are several instances that aim to differ and one of them is a recent conversation between Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo on UR Cristiano. The two friends were having a fun time where Rio proposed a game. He would offer two names of footballers and Cristiano has to pick one as the better between them. Many names popped up including his close friends and teammates like Pepe, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos etc. 

Rio even pitted Karim Benzema against Real Madrid's latest signing, Kylian Mbappe. Many of us assumed that CR7 would go for his teammate as he and Benzema terrified opponents for many seasons. However, Ronaldo uttering Mbappe created some controversy on the internet but they are just that.

Finally, Rio gave him the hardest challenge - he presented the names of Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo to choose from. Cristiano did take a pause but ultimately chose his friend as the better between the two of them. His dedication on the pitch makes him one of the most formidable players even at the age of 39 which sometimes justifies his arrogance. Regardless, there is no denying that he has a golden heart when it comes to friendship.
