The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Wednesday, February 5, that popular music producer Ir Gotti had passed away. Mostly known for being the co-founder of Murder Inc. Records, Gotti left a remarkable impression on the industry with his collaboration with some of the biggest names in the hip-hop industry.
Career
Gotti, born Irving Domingo Lorenzo Jr., co-founded Murder Inc. Records in 1998 with his brother Chris. The label launched Ja Rule and Ashanti to superstardom, producing major hits like "Always on Time," "Foolish," and “What's Luv?”.
He also collaborated with artists such as Jay-Z, DMX, and Jennifer Lopez, leaving a lasting impact on hip-hop and R&B. Despite legal struggles, he later reinvented himself in television, creating the BET series Tales.
His Death
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Irv Gotti passed away at 54 due to complications from a stroke. He had suffered a stroke the previous year and had long battled diabetes-related health issues. His passing has left a significant void in the music industry.

Tributes poured in from across the music world. 50 Cent shared an Instagram photo of himself smoking next to a grave headstone that read “RIP,” captioning it, “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack, nah God bless him LOL.”

Steve Rifkind shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, reminiscing about meeting Gotti in 1993 when he was working with Mic Geronimo.
