The legal battle between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively is heating up as Baldoni seeks to stop Lively from obtaining his phone records. Lively, along with her husband Ryan Reynolds, has requested call logs, text logs, and location data, claiming they could prove Baldoni’s involvement in a smear campaign against her.

Baldoni, however, argues that the request is too broad and an invasion of privacy.

Baldoni Challenges Lively’s Subpoenas

On Friday, Baldoni asked a judge to prevent Lively and Reynolds from accessing years of his phone and text records. His attorney, Mitchell Schuster, called the subpoenas “flagrantly overbroad” and argued that they go beyond what is necessary in a civil case.

“This is civil litigation, not a criminal prosecution, and (Lively and Reynolds) are not the FBI,” Schuster stated in a letter to the court.

Lively’s legal team submitted subpoenas to AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, seeking further evidence to support her claim that Baldoni, her director and co-star in It Ends With Us, engaged in an unlawful smear campaign after she made a sexual harassment complaint.

Lively’s Legal Strategy

Lively’s team has also issued subpoenas to PR firms and internet providers, including Cloudflare and AOL. They claim these records will help uncover a network of individuals involved in damaging Lively’s reputation.

A spokesperson for Lively responded to Baldoni’s objections, saying, “If they have so many receipts, why are they so afraid to produce them?”

Privacy Concerns and Media Attention

Baldoni’s team argues that the request is an invasion of privacy, as it would expose communications with family, friends, and business associates over several years.

In the court letter, Schuster stated that the subpoenas are a media tactic, alleging they were leaked to the press alongside a combative statement. He also pointed out that Lively’s team has objected to Baldoni’s public statements while simultaneously engaging in media campaigns themselves.

How the Dispute Started

The legal dispute began when Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and retaliation during the production of It Ends With Us. Baldoni denied the allegations and responded with a countersuit, claiming defamation and extortion. He is seeking $400 million in damages.

What Happens Next?

Baldoni has asked the judge to address the issue as soon as possible. Meanwhile, Lively’s spokesperson insists that the requested records will prove Baldoni’s involvement in a smear campaign. The legal fight continues, with both sides standing firm in their positions.

With multiple lawsuits, accusations, and high-profile names involved, this legal battle is set to be one of Hollywood’s most closely watched cases.
