The Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, is renowned for his extensive and unique car collection, which includes numerous bespoke Bentleys, many of which were likely commissioned by the Sultan’s brother and nephew, Prince Jefri Bolkiah and Abdul Hakeem Jefri Bolkiah respectively in the 1980s and 1990s.
Bentley Dominator

In the mid-1990s, the Sultan commissioned six Bentley Dominators, marking Bentley's first foray into SUV manufacturing, decades before the Bentayga. The car was based on the Range Rover’s platform.
These vehicles, priced at approximately $4.6 million each, were custom-built to the Sultan's specifications and belong to mostly the 1996 model year.
The Dominators were designed by Design Research Associates Limited and built by Rig Design Services (RDS) from Southam. In total, Sultan owns at least six units of Dominator SUVs.

Bentley Java

Originally unveiled as a concept car at the 1994 Geneva Motor Show, the Bentley Java caught the Sultan's attention.
He commissioned 18 units, encompassing six coupes, six convertibles, and six estates. The Brunei’s monarch owns 14 units in total. We could see only seven Javas with convertible or estate configurations in the leaked images of the Sultan's car collection.
These vehicles were built on a BMW 5 Series (E34) platform and powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
The Javas in the Sultan’s possession are mainly from the 1994 and 1996 model years. Here are the color and chassis numbers of some of the models.

Bentley Buccaneer

This retro-styled sports coupe was another bespoke creation for the Sultan. Designed by Geoff Matthews of GMD. Furthermore, it was built by French company, France Design (FD) in Le Pin and featured a 6.75L turbo V8 motor called the Bentley Continental R Sufacon engine.
In Sultan’s garage, there are at least six reported Buccaneer models that belong to the 1996 model year.
The color and chassis number of a few are as follows.

Bentley Grand Prix

Commissioned in 1994, the Bentley Grand Prix was a unique, V8-powered vehicle with an aluminum body, capable of reaching a top speed of around 190 MPH.
Since the Sultan specially commissioned it, the Grand Prix models in his collection can be distinguished by the letter "H" in its chassis number, indicating its non-standard status for select customers like the Brunei royal family.
According to the sources, there are at least six models in the collection out of which pictures of four have been leaked.

Bentley B2

The Bentley B2 was designed and built by Pininfarina, the same Italian company that worked on numerous Ferraris and Rolls-Royce models from the Sultan of Brunei’s car collection.
The Bentley Continental R was taken as the base model and at least 17 B2 models were manufactured. The model year of B2s varies from 1994 to 1996. In the famous Brunei cars leaks, four B2 coupe models can be seen.
The following are the color and chassis numbers.

Bentley B3

The B3 was also reskinned version of the Bentley Continental R just like its sibling the B2, exclusively designed for the Sultan. The B2 saw 12 units produced, while the B3, designed by Pininfarina, had about a dozen units, each featuring a 6.75L V8 engine with a Garrett turbocharger.
That said, five B3 coupes from the Sultan’s car complex have the following color and chassis numbers.

Bentley Arnage

The Bentley Arnage, a flagship luxury sedan is touted to be one of the favorites of the Sultan. Four units are part of his collection, likely customized with bespoke interiors and unique features to suit his tastes.
The Arnage has been used by many members of the Brunei royal family.
In 2024, Prince Mohamed Bolkiah was seen being chauffeured in the Bentley Arnage.
That said, one of the Arnages in the Sultan’s Bentley collection is painted in Blue (SCBLB51EXXCH01108) while another is in grey (SCBLB51E8XCH01110).
Bentley Azure (1995) and Bentley Azure (2006)

The first-generation Azure, a convertible based on the Continental R, was a standout in the collection. The Sultan acquired ten units were acquired, with some featuring different color schemes such as blue (chassis number SCBZK15CXVCH61060), black (chassis number SCBZK16CXTCH53746), and green (SCBZK15CXVCH61026).
The second-generation Azure, introduced in 2006, was even more popular in the royal collection, with 24 units confirmed.
These models were likely customized extensively, with some featuring bespoke paintwork and interior materials.
Meanwhile, at least two of the 2006 Bentley Azure have US specs (chassis numbers SCBZK14C3TCX50803 and SCBZK14C6TCX53663) while two (one has chassis number SCBZK15C0VCH61083) were ordered from the world's largest and oldest Bentley dealership, Jack Barckley which is in London.
Bentley Camelot

The Camelot is also based on the Continental R Supershort. Reportedly, only three cars were made and two sit in the Sultan’s royal car collection.
One of the Camelots is painted blue and has chassis number SCBZH04C9SCH00403 while the other one is the blacked-out version with chassis number SCBZH04C5RCH00408.
Bentley Continental

The Bentley Continental has served as the base model for numerous cars in the Sultan of Brunei’s Bentley car collection. It is a classic model well-represented with 30 units in the garage.
One of the Continentals is from the 1992 model year and is painted in grey. It has chassis number SCBZD04D8NCH40092.
Bentley Continental R

The Continental R could be in the top picks of the Sultan of Brunei. He paid around $2 million for the show car when it was launched at the 1991 Geneva Motor Show. Meanwhile, the Brunei car collection has around 102 Continental R units with different iterations as follows.

Meanwhile, one of the Sultan’s Bentleys, the Continental R Superfast dubbed as the SuFaCon has parted ways from his collection and is currently in possession of DK Engineering. As per sources, 14 were commissioned by the Sultan’s brother, Prince Jefri Bolkiah.
Bentley Continental R Sports Estate

The Sports Estate was another one of the derivate models of the Continental R. Reportedly, 30 Continental R Estate or Bentley Continental R Sports Estate were made out of which six were armored models.
Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei’s collection has at least 16 such Sports Estate models. Black, grey, green, and yellow are some of the colors chosen for the model.
Bentley Imperial

The Bentley Imperial was underpinned by the Continental R and featured a removable hard-top roof. It was sketched by the Design Research Association (DRA) from Warwick while the production was led by Motor Panels from Coventry in the UK.
The Sultan is known to own six Imperials out of which five can be seen in the leaked images. They are in black, green, grey, red, and yellow colors.
Bentley Monte Carlo

The Bentley Monte Carlo was also a joint project between DRA and Motor Panels. Estimates suggest six units were produced and the leaked images showed at least five in the Sultan’s garage.
However, some sources claim that seven Monte Carlo were made. Red, silver, and black are some of the colors chosen for the Monte Carlo coupe/convertibles in the collection.
Bentley Pegasus

Around nine custom Bentley Pegasus was a special order from the Sultan of Brunei and the Continental R was used as the base model.
In 1996, they were manufactured by the Motor Panels plant in Coventry, UK. Up to 18 were made but only 9 have been reported with their chassis numbers.
Half of them may have been sold out. Here are the body styles, colors, and chassis numbers of some.

Bentley Phoenix

The Bentley Phoenix, another exclusive model, was commissioned by the Sultan of Brunei. The Continental R was used as the foundation but the B2 model was also the source of inspiration for the Phoenix. It was designed and built by Pininfarina and only eight units exist today.
However, some claim nine cars were produced. Furthermore, the Bentley Continental R Sufacon engine was installed under the hood.
Some models feature reflective glass as well. Here are the color and chassis numbers for some Phoenix models.

Bentley Rapier

The Bentley Rapier was based on the Bentley Java but its redesigned frame came from the Continental R. Furthermore, it was designed by DRA in Warwick, and built by Hawtal Whiting in the UK.
Six units were made out of which four had red, silver, green, and blue colors.
Bentley Silverstone

The Bentley Silverstone was a special series of cars ordered by the Sultan of Brunei. It was produced with the joint collaboration of Bentley, Hawtal Whiting, and the American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) from Detroit.
During the period 1994 and 1995, around nine units were made. Each model uses a 575 horsepower V8 engine. The Silverstone’s exterior is painted in yellow, red, silver, green, and black.
Bentley Turbo R

The Bentley Turbo R, a high-performance luxury sedan, was a favorite in the collection, with 95 units confirmed.
Two of them also have the Azure Turbo R versions in a coupe and convertible body styles in white (chassis number SCBZR04A6LCH31895) and blue color (chassis number SCBZR04A7KCH27417) respectively.
Some of the Bentley Turbo R convertible models have been modified by Pininfarina.
Moreover, there are at least 27 Turbo RL models which were longer than the earlier Turbo R models.
The last of its production cycle and most expansion version in the series also found a place in the Sultan’s garage. Close to eleven units are part of the collection.
Bentley Val D’Iser

The Bentley Val D’Iser was a specially designed and built car for the Sultan of Brunei and the members of the royal family.
Based on the all-wheel drive Bentley Turbo R, only 11 units were produced between 1989 and 1992 by Robert Jankel Design.
However, Jankel also sold Val D’Iser to other customers as well but different Bentley models were used as the foundation.
That said, the Val D’Iser was even more expensive than the McLaren F1 at that time. One of the eleven Val D’Iser has come out of the Sultan’s collection and now belongs to a private collector.
Bentley Spectre
Pininfarina Studi E Ricerche from Turin, Italy used the Continental R for the Bentley Spectre, a custom model, limited to nine units.
In addition to the Phoenix, the Spectre was the first model to get the electronic traction control when Bentley was being run by Rolls-Royce.
Blue, silver, red, and green are some of the paint schemes used for the Bentley Spectre.
Bentley Continental S and Bentley Continental T
The Continental S, a high-performance version of the Continental R, was a rare addition to the collection built between 1994 and 1995.
There is only one such unit in the Sultan’s collection. At the same time, two Continental T cars manufactured in the period 1996–2002, are also part of the royal garage.
Bentley Carrozzeria Touring Flying Star
The Carrozzeria Touring Flying Star is a custom-bodied Bentley, with 10 units in the collection. No further details are available on them at the moment.
Bentley Continental GT
The Continental GT used to be the Java in its concept form when Rolls-Royce had the control of Bentley. That said, Sultan not only has a big fleet of Java cars but he also owns 59 units of the modern grand tourer, the Continental GT.
Bentley Continental GTC
The convertible version of the Continental GT, the GTC, is also one of the popular models in the Brunei cars. There are at least 38 units confirmed. Further details will be updated as soon as they are out.
Bentley Continental Flying Spur
Known for its spacious interior and powerful performance, the Flying Spur was and is a practical yet luxurious choice. These could be some of the reasons that the royal fleet not one or two but 20 units of the same car.
Bentley Brooklands
The Bentley Brooklands, a luxurious coupe, was represented by two units in the collection. Known for its hand-built craftsmanship and powerful engine, the Brooklands was a fitting addition to the royal fleet. The other details on the car remain protected.
Bentley Eight
Despite its "entry-level" status, there are eight units of the Bentley Eight in the royal car collection. Some of them have been likely modified by Pininfarina but it can’t be confirmed yet.
Bentley Mulsanne (1980) and Mulsanne (2011)
In total, there are at least 16 Bentley Mulsanne sedans in the Sultan of Brunei’s car collection. Around 9 belongs to the 1980 model year while 7 are part of the 2011 model year.
