Ex-BBC Top Gear Host Jeremy Clarkson’s Car Collection Is Something To Look Out For!

Jeremy Clarkson's car collection features an eclectic array of vehicles that reveal his unique taste in automobiles. From luxury icons like the Bentley Flying Spur to rare classics like the Mercedes-Benz 600 Grosser, each car tells a story of Clarkson’s passion for speed, craftsmanship, and even a touch of British charm with his classic Mini. Similarly, another Englishman Jason Statham also has a thing for British cars. Talking about Clarkson's personal car collection, which spans over 20 cars, most of which have been sold now. Some celebrities sell most of their cars over time to make space, fund new projects, or just donate them. 

5. McLaren 675LT

Rumor has it that Jezza snagged this McLaren 675LT after inking a multi-million-dollar deal with Amazon Prime for The Grand Tour. Delivered in a bold, eye-catching orange, this McLaren stirred curiosity.

Some claimed it was merely a test car, while others speculated it was a gift from Amazon itself. Was it a purchase, a loaner, or a generous gesture? Honestly, only Jeremy knows the real story! Regardless of who paid the check, it must have cost at least $400,000 for the supercar.

4. 2020 Bentley Flying Spur

Jeremy once reviewed this car on the show and loved it to the core. He stated, “You get astonishing smoothness and silence coupled with insane power.” Well, being a man of his word, he bought the 2020 Bentley Flying Spur for himself. The ex-BBC Top Gear host won’t settle for less, and he probably opted for the higher-performance version. He was spotted getting out of this green beauty recently.

Meanwhile, it was not just Clarkson who was a fan of the Flying Spur. His grandfather loved Bentley, and Jeremy was sure that if he had seen the Flying Spur, his grandpa would have said that this car " will see me out, this one." Well, Clarkson's grandad couldn't get to see the Bentley but in his memories, the former host of Top Gear show did buy for himself thinking the Bentley Flying Spur would ‘see him out too’.

3. Classic Mini Cooper

Well, this one’s quite special for Jeremy. His daughter Emily Clarkson gifted it to him on his 61st birthday, Daily Express reported. He was overwhelmed at first and called her daughter “stupidly generous.” 

The red beauty is as eye-catching as its new owner. It even flaunted the number 27 on the doors, but his fans were more concerned about ingress and egress for a man of his height. From the looks, it appears to be the 1986 Austin Mini Cooper 1000E model with 39 horsepower.

2. Range Rover Vogue SE

The 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE is one of the daily drivers in Jeremy Clarkson's car collection. He has even called it the “best car ever made”.  He has gone on to say, “This is the automotive equivalent of France, the Sony Bravia, The Sunday Times, and Mick Jagger - It is the answer".

In a show called Clarkson's Farm, he mentioned the USPs of this car and how it’s his “everyday” car for commuting. He clocked close to 85,000 miles on the same car, and that speaks volumes of his love for this car. That said, Jezza’s Range Rover L322 is powered by a 3.6L turbo diesel V8 engine.

1. Mercedes 600 Grosser LWB

Jeremy Clarkson enjoys the saloon's timeless elegance and calls it a “piece of dark-green metallic magnificence”. He bought the Mercedes 600 Grosser more than 40 years ago. The car is known for being a companion for famous people such as Mao Tse Tung and Elvis Presley. Meanwhile, it was also used in the Trading Places movie (1983).

Jeremy's Mercedes is equipped with a hydraulic system for windows, sunroof, boot lid, and seats rather than an electric setup as used in the modern cars. Besides that, you would also find a Mercedes-Benz 600 model in Mr. Jay Leno’s garage.

Jeremy Clarkson has owned and parted with many cars over his career, showcasing his shifting automotive passions. Celebrity car collections are constantly evolving as preferences and situations change. 

For example, Rowan Atkinson sold his McLaren F1 for £8 million in 2015, and even Jay Leno, with his extensive collection, has auctioned off select vehicles over the years. These sales underscore the fluid nature of celebrity car ownership, where collections are often curated and adjusted.

Alfa Romeo GTV6

The car that Jeremy Clarkson regrets selling the most is the Alfa Romeo GTV6. He compares losing his Alfa to losing a dog or a member of a family. According to him, Alfa Romeo cars have a much more human-like personality than any other cars and you know what? We agree. 

Ferrari F355

Jeremy Clarkson and Ferrari are two things that won’t see eye-to-eye. When it comes to Italian cars, Jeremy always preferred Lamborghini over the prancing horse, but to everyone’s surprise, he once owned a Ferrari F355 finished in Ferrari red, although he wanted it in green.

The car was his first big-ticket purchase at that time, but in today’s money, you can get one for an average price of $86,322. That said, Jezza soon regretted his purchase of the F355 GTS, as the car would attract a lot of attention from people as well as cops. This eventually forced him to sell the car. Although there are rumors that he has bought back the F355, we are not certain yet.

BMW M3 CSL

Jeremy Clarkson has a certain distaste for Porsches, and when Hammond opted for a Porsche 911 Carrera, Clarkson picked the BMW M3 CSL, the other best lightweight sports car. Not only that, Jezza was so impressed with the BMW that he drove it on the Isle of Man. Clarkson ended up selling it for around $4,000, which he deeply regrets because the estimated value of the BMW M3 CSL is around $200,000 these days.

The BMW M3 CSL is one of the iconic cars made by BMW, it was initially made for homologation special for the European Touring Car Championship and only 1,265 cars were ever made. As the name suggests "Competition Sport Lightweight" the car featured thinner steel panels and the doors and hood were made from aluminum to save weight.

Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series

Clarkson Bought the Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series in 2007. The car was perfect for Jezza’s liking, but it soon started giving him trouble. The final nail in the coffin was when the battery in the car died and it refused to start. Thus, he sold the car, and reports say that he was able to strike a good deal without losing much in depreciation.

The Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series previously owned by Jeremy Clarkson was a powerhouse featuring a nasty V8 under the hood. One of only 25 right-hand drive vehicles that made it to the Britain, the new owner indeed now has a special car in his garage. That said, it was sold for over $112,000. However, after the sale, he wrote on X that "it’ll be a sadder day for the poor bugger who bought it.”

Bentley Continental GT

The team of The Grand Tour purchased the 2014 Bentley Continental GT seen above for filming an episode in Madagascar. The team took the stately grand tourer and heavily modified it with lift kits, a roll cage, snorkels, off-road tires, and other accessories to convert it into an apocalypse machine.

After the filming was done, Jeremy Clarkson, impressed by the Bentley, kept it and has been seen driving it around his farm for some time. Anyways, as it was just a prototype it had to be destroyed after its purpose was fulfilled. Finally, it was sent back to Bentley and they kept it in a glass case in the Crewe factory. So the MFB Bentley Continental GT that was featured in The Grand Tour show's "A Massive Hunt" in Series 4 is no longer part of the current Jeremy Clarkson's car collection.  Although he did have fun with it with his buddies James May and Richard Hammond.

Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

Those who have watched BBC's Top Gear know that Jeremy Clarkson is a huge Lamborghini fan. Although he had the luxury of driving several Lamborghinis on the show he picked a Gallardo LP560 Spyder for himself.  It was one of his favorites because "it’s got orange seats. And because it is so pretty. And because when you go above 3500rpm it makes a noise like a punctured sumo wrestler. And because you sit so far forward, which makes it feel like you’re on the nose of some giant, snarling power-crazed animal.”

In 2011, Jeremy Clarkson's gray Gallardo Spyder with striking orange seats was listed for sale again. The car’s second owner set the price at $145,000, though it was originally manufactured in 2007 and sold a year later by Clarkson. 

2005 Ford GT

The 2005 Ford GT holds the title as the priciest car Jeremy Clarkson ever owned. Captivated by its design and power, Clarkson impulsively bought one as soon as Ford launched the model. 

However, he quickly discovered that the GT's tight ergonomics didn’t quite suit his tall, sturdy frame, and frequent electrical issues added to the frustration. True to form, Clarkson returned the car—only to buy it back later! Yet after a few years, Jezza had to part ways with his beloved GT. He asked for a full refund as well.

Porsche 911

Jeremy Clarkson has always had a love-hate relationship with Porsche 911s. Despite that, he is known to have owned a Porsche 911, the 2013 model, with a longer wheelbase which improved stability and allowed for a more spacious cabin. However, he has also owned some other models for short period of time for the review.

Ford Escort RS Cosworth

The 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth also used to have a place in Jeremy Clarkson's garage. However, in 2024, it was sold in ‘The Iconic Sale at Silverstone Festival 2024’ organized by Iconic Auctioneers. The final bid was around $83,656.

Volvo XC90

The Volvo XC90 has been quite suitable for Jeremy's driving taste. Over his lifetime, he has owned three models. He has loved the older versions but according to Sunday Times Driving, Jeremy has made it clear that he won't be buying the new plug-in hybrid versions of the car. 

Land Rover Range Rover

No one fawns over Range Rovers like the host of The Grand Tour. He calls it “far and away, the best car in the world”. No wonder he was willing to go as far as to fuse the 1980s Mercedes-Benz SL's body with an old Range Rover's chassis. Meanwhile, Jeremy Clarkson has also owned the Range Rover Autobiography V8 and the Range Rover P530 Autobiography which he reviewed for The Times.

The Aston Martin Virage distinguishes itself from DB9 and DBS. It has incredible stability and road presence, according to Jezzy. However, unlike popular belief, he hasn't exclusively owned the car but only reviewed it.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster has been popularly associated with Jeremy Clarkson. Since he drove from London to Oslo. However, there is no solid proof to show that he actually owns the car. His comments about the SLS AMG Roadster have been used to sell it in auctions. RM Sothbey's sold one 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for $407,000 in 2020. Besides that, Jeremy has described the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster as a car that “assaults all of your senses.” He says, “It’s not a Ferrari” and “It’s a muscle car, really.”

Jeremy Clarkson’s automotive adventures extend far beyond the iconic models already mentioned. Over the years, he’s enjoyed an impressive lineup, including a sleek 2002 Mercedes SL 55 AMG, the sporty 2005 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG, 1998 Jaguar XJR, Modified Bentley Continental GT V8, Toyota Land Cruiser, Volkswagen Scirocco 1 and 2, Jaguar F-Type and F-Type S, Honda CR-X, BMW Z1, Lotus Elise 111S, and if rumors are to be believed, perhaps even the legendary Lexus LFA made its way into Jezza’s garage! Meanwhile, let's not forget about the Mercedes-Benz CL 600, Jeep Wrangler, Volkswagen Golf GTI, and Lincoln Continental Mark V either.
