German automakers, Mercedes-Benz have teamed up with luxury fashion house Moncler once again to create a limited edition G-Class, Project G-Class Past II Future. This new version of the G-Class pays homage to the 90s and was designed with the help of Japanese musician and designer NIGO. The convertible art car was revealed at the "City of Genius" show in Shanghai on October 19, 2024.

Exterior And Interior Of The Project G-Class Past II Future

The Project G-Class Past II Future is based on a restored 90s G-Class, where NIGO and Mercedes-Benz’s chief designer, Gorden Wagener worked together to blend Moncler’s signature puffer style with the rugged look of the original model from the 90s. The SUV has an Olive green front end, while the rest of it is painted gray.

The exterior also has black and gold accents, along with a gold-colored fuel can. Besides that, this SUV features a quilted look on the removable top, drawing from Moncler’s iconic puffer jackets.

The G-Class interior blends vintage and contemporary touches, with checkered upholstery, orange and gold highlights, and a center console plaque engraved with the vehicle’s unique model number. A nod to 90s hip-hop culture, it even comes equipped with a removable boom box by audio designer Devon Turnbull, installed on the convertible top.

Performance And Engine Options

Buyers will have the choice of two current six-cylinder engine configurations: the 385-horsepower mild-hybrid G450 or the 445-horsepower G500, both ideal for off-road adventures and city driving alike.

Fashion Collection And Availability

As part of this collaborative launch, Mercedes-Benz and Moncler will also release a gender-neutral fashion capsule collection in April 2025. The collection complements the Past II Future G-Class with pieces that embody the same fusion of rugged sophistication and vintage edge.

As of now, there’s no word on pricing, but it is expected to be quite expensive. With only 20 units of this limited-edition G-Class available, buyers will need to act fast to own this reimagined, high-fashion SUV that speaks to both car aficionados and fashion connoisseurs.
