Koenigsegg CEO Christian Von Koenigsegg’s Garage Is Rather Inexpensive

Christian Von Koenigsegg is worth around $100 million. However, his daily drives are not all fancy Ferraris or Rolls-Royces. It has not even been confirmed if he actually owns a Koenigsegg car. However, the Christian Von Koenigsegg car collection does include a Lamborghini Huracan Performante, the only high-performance car in his possession that holds a 6-figure price tag.

The Christian Von’s garage houses the Tesla Model S and the Tesla Model 3 as well. Meanwhile, the 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata convertible is Christian Von’s favorite car which is also the second car he bought. That being said, Christian Von’s first car was a Suzuki Swift GTI.

5. 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata convertible 

The 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata has a special connection with Koenigsegg since it was his second car. He bought the car at the age of 19. However, Christian Von's 2022 interview with Motor Trend magazine revealed that he bought back the car "three times over the years". He now drives the Miata convertible daily. That being said, the average price of the 1992 Mazda MX-5 Miata convertible is around $12,047, according to Classic.com.

According to Christian Von Koenigsegg, "The MX-5 is a good example of how you can have fun with a car with almost no power." However, what he loves the most about this car (Mazda MX-5 (NA)) is its transmission. He has said candidly that, "I think its transmission still is the pinnacle of shifting enjoyment."

4. Tesla Model 3 

There is another daily driver that the founder of Koenigsegg likes and it is none other than the Tesla Model 3. In 2020, he wrote for Road & Track magazine that the Model 3 is "the best contemporary 'normal' daily driver around." Now when the man behind Koenigsegg Automotive AB says something like this about an EV, you must take it seriously.

We are not aware of the exact specs and model year of Christian Von's Tesla. Hence, the table above highlights the details of the latest Model 3 in the market. That being said, the 2024 Model 3 has a starting price of $38,990 which can jump up to $53,990 for the top-ranking Performance trim which comes with a default all-wheel drive system.

3. Tesla Model S P85D

Although Christian Koenigsegg is known for building some of the most famous hypercars on the planet. However, he still prefers to drive a Tesla on a daily basis. Christian already has a Tesla Model 3 which he uses as a daily driver. However, he regularly cruises around in his white Tesla Model S as well. That being said, the 2014 Model S P85+ base price is around $94,570.

In 2014, Christian Von Koenigsegg was featured in a YouTube video produced by GTBOARD.com. In this video, the Tesla Model S P85+ and BMW i3 were test-driven, and Koenigsegg was behind Tesla's steering wheel. Furthermore, in the same year, he was also spotted at Tesla supercharging station. Furthermore, Tesla's official X handle also posted the image on the platform.

2. Lamborghini Huracan Performante 

Christian Von Koenigsegg's garage has more than just regular EVs and old Mazdas. Autoevolution reports that he also prefers to drive the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. In 2017, Christian Von was spotted with a yellow model on the road. He was likely driving the 2018 coupe model which had a base price of $274,390.

The Lamborghini Huracan Performante came with a 5.2L V10 engine, a 7-speed automated manual or dual-clutch transmission, and an all-wheel drive system. The Huracan Performante did 0-60 in around 2.8 seconds and reached a top speed of 201 MPH. Its braking prowess didn't disappoint either. From 60 to 0, the car was able to stop at a distance of less than 101 feet.

1. Koenigsegg Regera 

Koenigsegg Automotive produces high-performance limited-production cars that are sold out even before they come out of the factory. Meanwhile, as the head of the company, it wouldn't be surprising that Christian Von kept a model or two to himself. 

Christian has been seen driving a special Koenigsegg Regera called ‘Malin’ color and a red one to different events. We know that Malin is owned by Faisal Binladen who also owns a Jaguar XJ220 in the same color, as reported by dupontregistry. However, the ownership of the second car is still in question. That being said, only 80 units of the Koenigsegg Regera were produced and each was priced at around $1.89 million.
