However, the same was not the case always, as his first car was a 1969 Ford Mustang that gave him a tough time to live with! 8. Toyota Prius

Well, the Toyota Prius might not sound worthy of being a part of any celebrity’s garage. However, Mr. DiCaprio is an exception. Despite having a massive net worth of $300 million, he owns a humble Prius and even flaunts it proudly. Actually, he even bought three other Prius cars for his father, mother, and stepmother. 

Back in 2006, he bought it and said, “I own a Toyota Prius; it's a step in the right direction. It's a gasoline-electric midsize car that gets about 50 miles per gallon. We have the technology to make every car produced in America today just as clean, cheap, and efficient." "My family and I drive them all over Los Angeles. I can't find any downside."

7. Polestar 2

To be honest, this one does not come by surprise. Mr. DiCaprio invested in Polestar, which was already backed by Volvo, and the brand became a success. It was valued at $20 billion in the SPAC deal. Now, that’s really smart of him. 

He was spotted driving a bluish gray Polestar 2 sedan in its full glory. The famous actor was draped in casual tee and jeans while wearing a LA cap and white shoes. He was also seen at the world premiere of Don't Look Up in the same car. Certainly, a much better choice than the Prius when it comes to performance and class.

6. Lexus RX450h

The logbook of a 1999 GS 400 reveals that the RX Hybrid isn't Leonardo DiCaprio's first venture into owning a Lexus. Being a vocal supporter of hybrid vehicles, the RX450h is his next vehicle. It’s not the most luxurious car on the list but gets the job done without much hassle. 

Many reports claim he owns one, and we don’t doubt it considering it's hybrid and Japanese. He has not been spotted driving one publicly, but that’s because he’s quite private, and paps might have missed the opportunity to click him in a rather common RX. 

5. Porsche Cayenne S

The Porsche Cayenne S has nothing in common with the green motives of futuristic car brands. It’s an all-rounder performance SUV from the brand, merging Porsche DNA and practicality. Mr. DiCaprio owns this “odd man out” SUV among most of his eco-friendly whips. 

He was spotted driving a black Cayenne on multiple occasions. For a man of his stature, it’s pretty easy to guess that he owns a S trim. Talking about one of the famous instances, he was spotted with his model girlfriend Toni Garrn at a second-hand record shop in Los Angeles.

4. Tesla Model S

Considering the recent times and eco-friendly mindset, owning a Tesla would be the most clever decision. Many celebrities like Ben Affleck, Kim Kardashian, George Clooney, Cameron Diaz, and Matt Damon own a Tesla. Tesla certainly has become the go-to electric brand for most A-listed celebrities. 

Leonardo owns a Tesla Model S, and he even partnered with the car brand’s CEO, Elon Musk, in the Before the Flood (2023) documentary. It focuses on climate change. Well, this collaboration does not come as a surprise because DiCaprio visited Tesla’s gigafactory in 2016. He was spotted driving a black Model S on a few occasions, and during most of them he was wearing casual attire.

3. Fisker Karma

The California-based EV maker’s Karma might feel out of place in terms of sheer brand value. However, it’s in line with DiCaprio's sustainability vision. It’s quite rare, but you can find one in Alicia Keys and Colin Powell’s garage too.  Mr. Henrik Fisker once said DiCaprio that, "I saw you getting out of the Prius, and I thought there's got to be a market for an environmentally friendly car which goes beyond the Prius. That was my first inspiration,"

So, his sustainability initiatives inspired the Fisker brand to launch a more eco-friendly product. Also, Leonardo’s smart business acumen led him to invest in Fisker Group, and he became the brand ambassador for the company. He was the first owner of this rather uncommon car. He was spotted driving a silver example in his usual casual attire and a cap. 

2. Audi Q3

One of the most affordable and non-eco-friendly cars in DiCaprio’s car collection is the German Audi Q3. This luxurious compact luxury SUV is the go-to option for convenient city commutes with decent practicality. 

In 2017, he was spotted driving a black Audi Q3 around California alongside Camilla Morrone by his side in the very same car. It was the same time when the rumors of the couple dating each other were buzzing.

1. Volvo XC90 

The final car and probably the latest addition to the “Titanic” star’s garage is the Volvo XC90. It is another car that falls in the category of luxurious yet eco-friendly vehicles. Leo owning this comes as an obvious choice, considering the fact he already owns the Volvo Group’s Polestar 2.

It's highly probable that he owns a high-end T8 Plug-in Hybrid model. He was spotted driving a black Volvo XC90 on a few occasions. The first was a solo drive, and he was seen getting out of this car in a gray hoodie jacket and shorts. The second one was with a mysterious lady on the passenger side. The third one was with his niece Normandie and her friend.

Leo's First Car 

Leonardo's first car was far from being eco-friendly. Nobody would have thought that the man who owns a full-fledged American muscle car would diverge to hybrids and EVs in the future. At just 16, Leonardo DiCaprio acquired a 1969 Ford Mustang, a classic muscle car worth $35,000 to $60,000 today. 

While this vintage beauty is a dream for car lovers, his ownership experience was far from ideal and desirable. He mentioned in his biography how this car left him stranded on roads for three times and the third time could have even led to a serious incident. Well, it seems that Leo's not alone as Jeremy Clarkson also had an undesirable experience with his Ford car. 

Tesla Roadster

Many reports claim that Leonardo DiCaprio owns a Tesla Roadster, the electric car packed with cutting-edge technology, including a state-of-the-art infotainment system and a suite of advanced safety features. However, the same could not be concluded concretely considering DiCaprio's private lifestyle.
