Exotic Lambos and Vintage Datsuns: What Else Is Adam Carolla Hiding In His Garage?

Adam Carolla has a huge car collection which is dominated by vintage Datsuns and Nissans. However, he also owns some modern machines like the 2005 DB9. Meanwhile, Adam Carolla’s car collection can also be dubbed as the Paul Newman car collection given the obsession he has with former race driver’s cars. He has collected around 10 cars that Newman raced in his career. Collectively, the value of Adam Carolla’s garage exceeds $13 million.

12. 1967 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2

The 1967 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2  was also among some purchases that Adam Carolla made from eBay, as reported by Forbes. Unlike his Lambo 350GT, the car he misses the most after auctioning it off, Adam's 400GT 2+2 model is still likely to keep its place in the garage. So far there are no reports of him bidding it farewell. We just have to wait and see if he would fall for another Porsche and end up selling this one as well.

Carolla's 1967 Lamborghini 400GT 2+2  is covered in dark blue color and has silver mesh wheels. There are accents around the window and silvery trim on the side and rear profile. He mostly likes to take his vintage Datsuns and Nissans for races and daily rides. Hence, it is likely that he has hardly put any miles on it.

11. 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2

The only known Ferrari in Adam Carolla's garage is the 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series II. There are several things that Carolla admires about this car including its deep-dish bronny aluminum wheels and gills on the side profile. At the same time, he has criticized the second row of the car which provides an uncomfortable seating arrangement.

Adam calls it the businessman Ferrari of the 1960s. However, in current times, for him, it is a less valued model if compared with other iterations of the 330 GT. That is why, he has addressed it as a “cheap car” as well. Carolla is not a fan of black cars but for him, the color works on the 330 GT 2+2 because there is an ox-blood maroon interior. On a side note, he has taken the car to CNBC show, Jay Leno's Garage.

10. 1972 Datsun 610

The 1972 Datsun 610 was driven by Bob Sharp himself. Yes, the same Bob Sharp who collaborated with Paul Newman and created Sharp-Newman Racing. Meanwhile, it is important to note that this is the sister car of the Datsun which won the 1972 B-Sedan Championship. As Adam describes himself, it was the “backup” car.

Carolla likes the 610 because it was and is a fully-prep race car. This retro-time capsule model is covered in a combination of red, blue, and white lacquer. It also has hand-painted pin stripping. The Datsun 610 has a full-racing cell at the back. It is also equipped with a fire impression system and a full-role cage.

9. 1971 BRE Datsun 510 Trans-Am 2.5

Automobile Magazine rated the 1971 BRE Datsun 510 as one of the “5 Coolest Cars” in Adam Carolla's garage. However, this car was not driven by Paul Newman but by Bobby Allison who secured victory in a drag race under the 1973 NHRA winter nationals.

In 2012, Carolla took out his 1971 BRE Datsun two-door sedan and raced at the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway during Monterey Historics. Besides the Datsun, he also drove Jim Fitzgerald's Nissan 280ZX at the same event.

8. 1971 Triumph TR6

Adam Carolla had to get his hands on Paul Newman's 1971 Triumph TR6. After all, it is the same car that actually started Newman's racing career. He raced the TR6 in the Group 44 team in 1972. Moreover, it helped him in winning the 1976 SCCA D-Production National Championship.

Carolla bought the Triumph TR6 in 2017 and even released an episode on "CarCast with Adam Carolla" where he talked about it in detail. When he got the car, it had white paint with a green horizontal paint strip on the hood and green-painted wheels. However, later Aceman flirted with the TR6, painted it in silver, and made the wheels black but he didn't change the blacked-out headlights.

7. 1969 BRE Datsun 2000 Roadster

Carolla is obsessed with Nissan and Datsun cars that share a connection with Paul Newman. This 1969 BRE Datsun 2000 Roadster which is part of Adam Carolla's car collection, was developed covertly through a partnership between the Nissan corporate offices in Japan and BRE in Los Angeles. Nissan registered this car in the 1968 SCCA season and it assisted in revitalizing the flagging of Datsun motorsports department.

In 2011, Adam Carolla went along with famous BRE driver, John Morton to test drive his Datsun 2000 Roadster on the Willow Springs race track. First John took the wheel and drove it a little. Later, Adam sat and scored a few laps.

6. Nissan 280ZX Models

Paul Newman was the only driver of this Nissan Datsun 280ZX racecar in the 1979 campaign. He achieved victories at Summit Point, Watkins Glen, Brainerd (Minn.), Lime Rock, and Road Atlanta in this car. These fantastic results culminated in an SCCA National C-Production Championship. Adam Carolla spent more than $500,000 just to rebuild the car, according to Forbes.

Meanwhile, it was not the only Nissan 280ZX model Adam Carolla bought. He also possesses one of the three famous 1979 Nissan 280ZX twin-turbo V8 Prototypes which has huge box fender flares. That being said, the model year of the 280ZX is disputed. Some sources mention it as the 1984 model while others approach it as the 1985 one.

5. 1978 Datsun 200SX

This 1978 Datsun 200SX is also one of the cars from the Paul Newman car collection owned by Adam Carolla. Although there are still many cars out there related to Paul Newman, Adam likely kept the 200SX because Paul had the best time in this car. Paul developed his skills with this less powerful Datsun before moving to more potent machines.

It would be a really hard bargain to make Adam Carolla part with such a precious car related to Newman. He drove it between 1978 and 1978 and won 19 races out of a total of 22 including the 1986 IMSA GT-1 Championship.

4. Nissan 300ZX Models

The 1987 Nissan 300 ZX 2+2 turbo tube-frame racecar from Adam Carolla's collection has been driven to victory by Paul Newman in IMSA. Adam Carolla also owns the sister car of the Apart from the 1987 Nissan 300 ZX racecar (Bop Sharp car) which is the 1988 Newman-Sharp 300ZX Turbo model. Besides that, Motortrend reported that Adam also had the 1985 Nissan 300ZX Trans-Am Portland which was Pual Newman's older race car.

The best way to distinguish between Adam's 1987 and 1988 300ZX is that the former has a blue rollbar while the latter has a white rollbar. Additionally, Adam has taken his 1987 300 ZX which he bought in Europe to hill climb at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. However, as per his YouTube interview with The Drive, he didn't go to the event to compete but for experience. He has also raced it in the 2013 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion which was organized at Laguna Seca. On a side note, model years of the 300ZX are disputed.

3. Oldsmobile Cutlass Models

Adam Caroollas' car collection includes a pair of Oldsmobile Cutlass models. The 1989 Cutlass model features Pepsi livery on the exterior and Paul Newman drove the car in five races the same year. According to Top Gear, it has also been raced by NFL Hall of Famer Walter Payton.

In its last season with Newman-Sharp Racing, Paul Newman was behind the wheel of the 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Trans Am. Both Cutlass Trans Am models from 1989 and 1990 were identical but they had a major difference. The former was powered by a Buick V6 while the latter came with a Chevy V8.

2. 2005 Aston Martin DB9

In his interview with GQ, Adam discussed a few things regarding his Aston Martin DB9. It was revealed that his car doesn't wear the famous British racing green. It is painted in Aston Martin Green color and the car has been specially customized by Chip Foose.

Adam really likes the bright red interior of the car which mixes well with the exterior. Furthermore, he has compared his DB9 with a “big bulbous beautiful Brazilian ass”. He said this is how a car should look like in its original color. Meanwhile, he isn't the only famous car enthusiast to have fallen prey to DB9's looks and performance.  Jeremy Clarkson is also among many others who absolutely love this British car.

1. 1979 Porsche 935

The car for which Adam Carolla had to sell around five Lamborghini is none other than the Porsche 935. In 2016, Adam put down $4.4 million for the 1979 Porsche 935. It was driven by Paul Newman along with co-drivers Dick Barbour and Rolf Stommelen in the 24 Hours Le Mans race of 1979. The Porsche 935 ended up winning in its class and managed to secure the second position overall.

Carolla didn't want to sell his cars but the 935 was digging too deep in his pockets. Besides that, he didn't purchase the 935 to just keep it on display. He has driven it in various events including the Toyota Celebrity Pro/Celebrity race. Furthermore, for Adam Carolla, Paul Newman's Porsche 935 is the “the Holy Grail of cars”.

SOLD? Former Cars From The Adam Carolla Car Collection

6. 1994 Nissan 300ZX V8 IMSA GTS Race Car

Adam Carolla bought the 1994 300ZX V8 around 2013 but it is not known when he sold it off. In 2023, the car was listed for $156,000 at the Bring A Trailer auction platform. However, final bidding is yet to take place. It was driven by a team of Johnny O’Connell, Steve Millen, and John Morton who won in the GTS-1 class at the 1995 12 Hours of Sebring.

5. 2001 BMW M3

Over the years, Adam Carolla has owned multiple BMWs and he has been a particular fan of M3 models. However, it is estimated that Adam would have gotten easily over $100,000.

3. 1966 Lamborghini 350GT

Adam didn't wanna part with the Lambo 350GT since it was the first production car made by the Italian manufacturer. However, his eyes were set on the “expensive Porsche 935" he was dying to get. Hence, before auctioning it off, he invited Mike and Adrienne Janic (AJ) to have the car in its top condition for the best price. At the Petersen Automotive Museum auction, he ended up cashing in $550,000 for his black 350 GT.

2. Lamborghini Islero Twins

In 2019 Amelia Concours d`Elegance, Adam Carolla brought up two of his cars to show off since he was going to auction them. One was the 1966 Lamborghini 350GT while the other was the 1969 Lamborghini Islero in the dark blue exterior with Cognac interior. This 1969 Islero was offered for $350,000. Meanwhile, Ace Man also had another Islero in his garage. It was a light blue metallic 1968 Lamborghini Islero with crimson red interior which Adam has also taken on Jay Leno's Garage in 2015. The car was listed for $385,000.

1. Lamborghini Miuras

A pair of Lamborghini Miura P400S was sold from the Adam Carolla collection. The 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400S was sold at auction for $1.4 million. Gary Bobileff, a recognized authority in Lamborghinis, gave this Miura a cosmetic restoration. Meanwhile, not many know that but Matt D'Andria, Adam's co-host on CarCast has let the cat out of the bag. In a 2016 YouTube video by Tavarish, Matt revealed that Adam Carolla had three Miuras. We will let you know the details of this mystery Miuras as soon as they are out.
