A Journey from Factory Worker to Global Influencer
Khaby Lame was born in Senegal on March 9, 2000, and relocated to Italy at the age of one. Raised in a public housing complex near Turin, he had early hurdles such as financial anxieties and difficulty discovering his vocation in school. Lame lost his work as a machine operator at a factory near Turin in March 2020, because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This setback inspired him to experiment with content production on TikTok, where he became famous for his funny, wordless replies to too intricate "life hacks." His relatable and approachable style resonated globally, leading him to become TikTok's most-followed user, with more than 162 million followers as of January 2025.

Lame is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador who works to raise global awareness of children's rights.
