Taylor Swift's Dating History, Breakup Songs, And The Current Boyfriend

Taylor Swift's personal life has attracted the attention of every demographic around the world. She is famous for having high-profile relationships and is proud to have a fan following which can bring down egg prices across the United States. That said, here is a list cum timeline of Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriends and the current dating partner.

• Joe Jonas (2008): Taylor Swift's first boyfriend was Joe Jonas, the middle child among the Jonas Brothers. Their relationship ended abruptly, Swift revealing that Jonas broke up with her during a brief phone call. A few of Swift’s songs have been associated with Joe Jonas which include ‘Mr. Perfectly Fine’, and ‘Forever & Always’.
• Lucas Till (2009): After co-starring in Taylor Swift's "You Belong with Me" music video, the two dated briefly for a month before realizing that they were better off as friends.
• Taylor Lautner (2009): Star of the Twilight film franchise, Taylor Lautner and global pop sensation Taylor Swift first met on the set of "Valentine's Day" and eventually dated for a few months in the fall of 2009. The couple split in December of the same year. The song "Back to December" is widely believed to be Swift's apology to Lautner for their breakup.
• John Mayer (2009-2010): Taylor and John met in 2009 but ended up breaking up the next year on a rather ‘sour note’, leading Swift to pen "Dear John," which Mayer later criticized publicly. After Talor’s song, Mayer's "Paper Doll" also came out.
• Jake Gyllenhaal (2010-2011): Taylor’s relationship with Gyllenhaal is believed to have inspired several tracks on her album "Red”. The most recognized song about her breakup with  Jake Gyllenhaal is “All Too Well” which she also performed on SNL when Pete Davidson was still a cast member.
• Conor Kennedy (2012): Swift had a summer romance with Robert Kennedy's grandson, Conor Kennedy. Their relationship lasted from July to October of 2010 and resulted in the ‘Starlight’ song from her album, ‘Red’.
• Harry Styles (2012-2013): Billionaire Taylor Swift and One Direction's Harry Styles were the subject of media attention when they were first linked together in 2012. Although the couple did break up the following year, they remain good friends. While they were dating, Taylor even approached the Australian indie band The Temper Trap to write some lyrics for the ‘As It Was’ singer’s birthday. That said, ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’, ‘Is It Over Now?’, ‘Now That We Don't Talk,’ "Say Don't Go’, and ‘Style’ are some of the songs that Taylor Swift allegedly wrote about Harry Styles.
• Calvin Harris (2015-2016): Taylor Swift's relationship with DJ Calvin Harris seemed amicable initially, but post-breakup tensions arose, especially concerning their collaboration on the song "This Is What You Came For’ which was written by Taylor under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg.
• Tom Hiddleston (2016): Swift's whirlwind romance with actor Tom Hiddleston was highly publicized. Even The Late Show host, Stephen Colbert jokingly warned Tom to never break Taylor’s heart. Ironically, the "HiddleSwift" didn’t last long when the couple broke up within months after meeting each other on the dance floor of the MET Gala in 2016.
• Joe Alwyn (2016-2023): Taylor Swift's relationship with actor Joe Alwyn was notably private, lasting six years, making Alwyn Taylor’s longest boyfriend to date. One of the reasons for the breakup has been alleged to be Tay Tay’s fame. Besides that, 'Lover' and 'All the Girls You Loved Before’ are a few of Swift’s songs that have been rumored to be written about Joe Alwyn.
• Matty Healy (2023): Swift's brief association with The 1975's frontman, Matty Healy, faced backlash from her fans, Swifties. Supposedly, Taylor wrote the ‘I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)’ song about Healy.
• Travis Kelce (2023-Present): In September 2023, the 'Blank Space' singer began a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. However, even before the romance, both had traded friendship bracelets when Taylor was on her Eras Tour. Having said that, Taylor Swift has publicly attended Kelce's games, and both have also made surprise appearances on "Saturday Night Liv.e” So far, media reports indicate Travis and Taylor’s relationship seems to be going well.
