After Elon Musk’s association with the Trump administration and his alleged Nazi salute, many Tesla owners are ditching their EVs to protest against the billionaire.
While Tesla dealerships witness protests and, in some cases, vandalism, the list of those parting ways with their EVs keeps growing. Joining the list is Joanne Wilson, an angel investor, along with her husband, Fred Wilson, a venture capitalist.
Ditching Tesla’s
Talking to Business Insider, Joanne Wilson, former Angle Investor and founder of the Gotham cannabis concept store, shared how she and her husband have opted to ditch their Tesla EV. The couple had bought a Tesla Model S in 2014, shortly after their parking garage got electric chargers installed. They went on to buy another one so they could have one in New York and in California.
However, after the recent turn of events, the couple now feels embarrassed to own the EVs as they don’t want to be associated with Elon Musk in any way. She also clarified in her blog that she has not experienced any public shaming, which has become a bit common as many have reported such behaviour online.
She took to her blog post to write-
Was it Elon's complete disregard for human beings as he attempts to completely disrupt the federal government like a classic tech dude without a proper understanding of how government works, or was it that awful new cyber truck that looks like something out of Mad Max and looks angry? It is a toss-up.
Wilson traded her car for an electric Volvo and also shared how she only received $2,000 in trade-in value. As for the second car, Wilson suggested how she is open to New Yorkers taking out their feelings on the car at one of her Gotham cannabis boutiques.
She writes, "We could give out sledgehammers, let people smash the car, and film it for Instagram. It may go viral." She also talked about how if she were to monetise the event, she might end up making more than what she paid for her new Volvo.
Tesla Takedown
Elon Musk’s behaviour in the last few months has upset and outraged many. The owners of the Teslas are showing their anger by selling their EVs or trading them in for different brands. Many owners who cannot afford to sell their cars have resorted to using stickers denouncing Elon Musk.
The outrage has caused a massive blow to Musk as his businesses shares see consistent drops. As Elon Musk struggles to handle his businesses, President Trump stepped in to show support for the billionaire and encouraged everyone to buy Tesla as he bought one for himself.
