Justin Baldoni has found himself embroiled in yet another legal battle, this time with his former publicist, adding to the controversy surrounding the Hollywood director. His life is already under scrutiny due to allegations made by actress Blake Lively, his co-star in It Ends With Us.
Stephanie Jones, owner of Jonesworks, has filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his company, and his publicity team, accusing him of breaching a contract that required him to pay her $25,000. According to reports from the New York Post, Baldoni parted ways with the company in August, leading to the premature termination of the contract. The lawsuit also highlights that his former publicist, Jennifer Abel, left the firm to establish her own agency, complicating matters further.
Jones’s lawsuit also alleges that Abel and Melissa Nathan were involved in running a smear campaign against actress Blake Lively without her knowledge. The filing claims that Abel and Nathan are now attempting to shift the blame onto Jones to cover up their own alleged misconduct. “To this day, Abel and Nathan continue to falsely point the finger at Jones now that their own wrongdoing is coming to light, defaming and attacking her within the industry,” states the lawsuit.
Earlier, on Saturday, Blake Lively filed a separate complaint against Justin Baldoni, his production company Wayfarer Studios, and his public relations team, accusing them of orchestrating a smear campaign against her. Lively alleges that this was a response to her prior complaints about harassment. In her filing, the Hollywood actress accused Baldoni of “unwanted physical contact,” “inappropriate comments and behavior,” and “improvised explicit sexual content added to scenes beyond what was agreed upon in the script.”
As the details of these allegations surfaced publicly, several celebrities came forward in support of Blake Lively. Among them, popular celebrity Amber Heard emerged as a prominent voice, speaking out on NBC about the destructive power of social media. “Social media is the absolute personification of the classic saying, ‘A lie travels halfway around the world before truth can get its boots on,’” said the Aquaman actress. “I saw this firsthand and up close. It’s as horrifying as it is destructive.”
