Unlike his other prized machines, Andretti didn’t buy this one—he won it after his legendary victory at the 1969 Indianapolis 500. Reports suggest he still owns it, and in true Andretti fashion, he once quipped, “Wave if you see me,” as he cruised around Pennsylvania in it!

Mario Andretti has a soft spot for Corvettes—who doesn’t? His 2006 Corvette Z06 was no slouch, but speed always calls for an upgrade. Enter the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, a natural replacement that took its place in his garage, offering even more power and performance.

When speed is the name of the game, the prancing horse from Italy is always a winning answer. Mario Andretti proudly owns a Ferrari 360 Spider—a sleek beauty with a beast lurking under the hood. Inside, the Ferrari 360 Spider boasts supportive sports seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and aluminum pedals.

He was even spotted at the Andretti Winery, striking a pose next to his stunning yellow 360 Spider, a glass of fine wine in hand. A legendary racer, a breathtaking car, and a perfect pour—could life get any better than this?

1. 2018 Lamborghini Aventador S

The raging bull from Italy also charges its way into Andretti's superfast car collection. But this Lamborghini isn’t just about speed—it holds a deeper meaning. Unlike most of his other high-performance machines, this one serves as his trusted companion during tough times, a true symbol of resilience and passion.

In an interview, Andretti revealed his special connection with this Lamborghini, saying, “If I am ever feeling down, I go down there and start this car. I love the first rumble of the engine: Vroom!" To complement the symphony of its roaring V12, he adds a touch of Italian perfection—“I have a CD of Pavarotti, and I put that on.”

Special Mentions

1948 Hudson Hornet

Mario Andretti's 1948 Hudson in GT6

Mario Andretti’s Hudson Hornet is undoubtedly one of the most special cars in his collection. His legacy began with a 1948 Hudson Hornet, a car he painstakingly rebuilt in 1959, hoping it would become his first race car. That very machine was his first love—and who could disagree?

Though reports suggest it was later sold at auction, its legacy lives on. For the love of racing, the same car was added to Gran Turismo 6, giving fans the thrilling opportunity to drive a piece of Andretti’s history—virtually.

2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Mario Andretti's Corvette Z06

Andretti’s passion for speed is no secret, and his prestigious car collection once included the Corvette Z06. However, it made way for an even mightier machine—the 2009 Corvette ZR1. What ties both Corvettes together? Their race-ready DNA and sleek silver finish.

When Andretti parted with his Machine Silver Corvette Z06, it was a dream package—featuring the 2LZ preferred equipment package, a navigation system, polished aluminum wheels, and a throaty Magnaflow Exhaust. With just 8,660 miles on the clock, it was a steal at $54,500.

1957 Chevrolet Bel-Air

When Alvise Andretti was looking to trade in his Ford, his twin sons, Mario and Aldo, persuaded him to go for a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. However, the classic Chevy didn’t quite match their father’s taste, so he chose a 1951 Buick instead. Just for your info, Jay Leno has both the Chevy and Buick models in his collection.

This unexpected decision turned out to be a lucky break for the brothers, as the stylish red and white Bel Air—adorned with its signature gold V—ended up in their hands. For Mario, it became more than just a car; it was the first spark in his lifelong passion for automobiles. It's highly unlikely he still owns it.

Lamborghini Aventador

Yes, Mr. Andretti once owned a stunning 2014 Lamborghini Aventador—an orange head-turner that had only clocked 6,000 miles when it hit the market. However, in true speed-lover fashion, he upgraded to the more powerful Aventador S in 2018.

The most interesting part? Before parting ways with his beloved supercar, Mario left a personal touch—scribbling a note under the front bonnet for the next owner: “Pls take care of my car!” A legendary racer leaving behind a heartfelt message—now that’s a collector’s dream!

Alfa Romeo GTV-6

The Alfa Romeo GTV-6 once held a spot in Mario Andretti’s impressive car collection. According to the original ownership document, he purchased the sleek Italian coupe in 1981 for an MSRP of $16,983. Unlike many of his race-winning machines, this one came straight from the dealership—practically brand new—with only 175 miles on the odometer. A stylish blend of performance and heritage, the GTV-6 was a fitting addition to the garage of a motorsport legend.

More Ferraris and Lamborghinis…

For a man of Mario Andretti’s stature, buying and selling cars comes as effortlessly as dominating a racetrack. He once stated, “I’ve had a lot of Lamborghinis and Ferraris,” and who could argue? His collection has seen some of the most iconic exotics, including a 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, a 1976 Lotus Elite, both 1984 and 1989 Lamborghini Countach models, a 1991 Lamborghini Diablo, and a 2007 Lamborghini Murciélago—just to name a few. When it comes to high-performance machines, Andretti has truly lived every car enthusiast’s dream.
