Patrick Dempsey's car collection is a testament to his passion for automotive excellence. From the timeless elegance of the Ferrari Daytona and the Porsche 356 to the cutting-edge technology of the Mercedes, Dempsey's car collection showcases a blend of classic charm and modern sophistication.

Widely recognized for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd on "Grey's Anatomy," Dempsey is also a professional race car driver and has participated in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, and Tudor United SportsCar Championship while driving Ferraris and Porsches. He also owns a racing team called Dempsey Racing.

5. Lotus Exige S

The Lotus Exige S, finished in dark gray, is one of Patrick Dempsey's favorite rides. The Exige S is worth $61,000 and is a joy to drive. Despite the Exige S having a barebones interior, the track-ready, lightweight Lotus is Patrick’s daily driver. A proof that he is a true car guy.

Despite his love for Porsche, Dempsey often takes out his Exige S and roams around in his neighborhood city streets. Once, he was spotted getting out from his Lotus rocking a simple but classic jeans outfit complementing it with his signature cap and sunglasses.

4. Jaguar XK120

Patrick Dempsey's Jaguar XK120

The classic Jaguar XK120, finished in dark gray with a tan interior, is the one of latest classic cars added by Patrick to his collection. Patrick picked this famous Jaguar worth $83,700 during the end of his tenure on Grey's Anatomy. That said, being an open-top roadster, Patrick only uses the car for special occasions, unlike Ralph Lauren, whose 1950 Aluminum Roadster sits in the museum only.

Mr. Dempsey's love for classic and vintage cars is not a surprise for anyone since he has openly talked about it with Jay Leno in an episode of Jay Leno's Garage. He also maintains his cars especially, his Jaguar, and that was confirmed back in 2008 when the "Grey's Anatomy" actor stopped by a motor shop in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, as he was having trouble with his beloved vintage Jaguar.

3. 1963 Porsche 356

Patrick Dempsey's 1963 Porsche 356

Finished in black, the cute little 1963 Porsche 356 was bought by Patrick Dempsey when he was doing the 1987 movie ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’. He used the Porsche as his daily driver for no less than 16 years until he started making more money and adding other cars to his garage. The 21-year-old actor back then used the money he received for the movie to buy this beauty from one of the film crew. Speaking of its price, as of the present time, a 1963 Porsche 356 is worth $142,100.

Unlike Jerry Seinfeld, whose Porsche collection is arguably the best in the world and also has several 356 Porsche models, Dempsey has a special connection with his '63 Porsche Convertible. In an interview with Agricultural Digest back in February 2014, Patrick expressed his feelings about the car. He said, “The 356 I’ll never let go of. It will always stay part of the family.”.

2. 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing

Patrick Dempsey's 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Gullwing

After the Porsche 911 GT3 RS was gone, Patrick’s daily driver became his $200,000-worth Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. The SLS AMG Gullwing comes finished in its trademark silver exterior color with contrasting red interiors. Courtesy of Patrick being a car guy, he uses the Gullwing to the fullest instead of keeping it as a garage queen.

Despite having this beautiful German automobile, Patrick is sometimes frustrated as he hasn't been able to fully discover the true potential of the car. He disclosed his frustration in an interview with Agricultural Digest stating, “The SLS is beautiful; Unfortunately, roads in this country don’t allow for much of that. My biggest frustration is people who sit in the left lane. There should be a law that [slow drivers] have to get out of the fast lane.”.

1. 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE

The next one on the list is from the classic late-'60s era of the Mercedes brand which happens to be also one of Patrick's keepers. The 280SE has been in Dempsey's collection for a long time and it's not going anywhere soon as far as auction or selling is concerned. Based on Patrick's own words, his kids call his 280SE the “Princess Car”.

Different from the 356, the 280SE is a family favorite and Patrick has clung to it from the get-go. He said, “Now that’s a fun car—our family car, cool, classic, elegant, it just floats. There’s a little body roll, not a tremendous amount of power, but it’s great just to cruise up the coast.

The Porsche 911 Targa is one of the recent acquisitions of Patrick Dempsey. It’s said Patrick wanted a new-age Porsche as a daily driver, as his 911 GT3 RS was not comfortable for him to drive daily through Los Angeles traffic. So he traded the 911 GT3 RS for a 911 Targa, which is worth $121,300. He posted about his car's availability on his Instagram page with a heartfelt notation stating, “I have loved my time with this car, but its time to pass it on to it’s next caretaker.”

  • 2002 Panoz Esperante GTLM Coupe

Patrick Dempsey's 2002 Panoz Esperante GTLM Coupe

The silver-colored Panoz Esperante GTLM is one of the rarest cars in Patrick Dempsey’s collection. The Esperante GTLM is worth $169,900 and is a hand-built race-ready street-legal car by the company named Mid-Atlantic Sports Cars and was specially built for Patrick Dempsey. The car remained a mystery in the industry with only 33 units ever made, the car is a rare specimen for its time. After owning it for nearly two decades, Patrick sold the car to the company and resold it to Brad Warden back in June 2021. The car was even spotted in Coastal Motoring Tour's final destination at the Grand Motoring Tour Hanger night, the same year.

  • 2020 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Patrick Dempsey's 2020 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The 2020 Porsche 911 GT3 RS in black with orange highlights on the exterior bit was Patrick Dempsey’s favorite daily driver for a while. He has been spotted several times in the Porsche driving around Los Angeles, especially around gas stations.

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS was worth $188,550 and due to the committed driving setup of the car, he traded it for the money that he used to modify his 911 SC. It turned out that daily driving the GT3 RS was not very comfortable for the actor. Perhaps, Patrick could've sold it to Manny Khoshbin whose multi-million dollar car collection doesn't have the RS variant.

  • Ferrari Daytona

Patrick Dempsey's Ferrari Daytona

The Ferrari Daytona, worth $528,100, was the most expensive car in Patrick Dempsey’s collection. Finished in a teal blue color, the classic Ferrari was difficult to handle and maintain based on Dempsey's own words. Although that car has not been so easy on Dempsey considering the amount of repair and reliability issues it has, Patrick admits that once he is behind the wheel, he forgets all that, and his love for the Ferrari rekindles. He also said, “…it’s a beast with a big, strong motor, and a great look. In context, it was one of the last big front-engine cars from Ferrari, but not fun to drive."
