DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons, was an American rapper and actor known for his impactful contributions to the hip-hop genre. Born on December 18, 1970, in Yonkers, New York, DMX rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with his distinct and aggressive style of rapping. His debut album "It's Dark and Hell Is Hot" (1998) gained massive attention, showcasing his raw lyrical prowess and emotionally charged delivery. His second album, "Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood" (1998), released later the same year, made him the first artist to release two Billboard 200 number-one albums within a year.
In addition to his music career, DMX ventured into acting, appearing in several films such as "Romeo Must Die" and "Cradle to the Grave." Tragically, DMX passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 50, following a heart attack triggered by a drug overdose. His death was met with an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow artists alike, highlighting his lasting impact on the music and culture of hip-hop. Despite being one of the best-selling hip-hop artists of his time, . This is because DMX faced significant financial challenges due to legal issues, a history of substance abuse, and other factors. Even still, DMX owned several high-end vehicles, along with his favorite 1964 Chevrolet Impala, which he used in his music videos as well. So without further ado, here is a look at DMX's car collection.
5. 1964 Chevrolet Impala
The first car that deserves the most attention in Earl’s collection is his favorite 1964 Chevy Impala. While the car is now a precious collector’s vehicle, DMX had his example quite extensively modified. While it is not known if he upgraded the powertrain of the vehicle, the car was fitted with an expensive and complex hydraulic suspension system. The motor was finished in chrome on the outside, while the wheels and the exterior trims are finished in gold. The hood was replaced with a backward-opening hood that has mirrors installed so that the motor is visible from every angle possible. The wheels were replaced with custom-made 14-inch gold spoke wheels, and the high-power custom-made audio system has its subwoofers placed inside the trunk. Other than that, the car gets a 16-switch hydraulic pump suspension system where the pumps are finished in chrome.
