Kroeger mainly gained attention by being the guitarist of the rock band Nickelback, which he co-founded in 1995 with his brothers Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake, and Brandon Kroeger. Since then the band has released several albums and sold over 50 million records worldwide. In addition to this Kroeger is also known for collaborating with several other artists, he wrote and song on “Why don’t you and I” for Santana’s album Shaman, and produced music for bands such as Default, Theory of a Deadman, and Bo Bice. He has been nominated for several awards and has won a significant number of them too, which also includes the Juno Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2004.
