Elon Musk's X, the social media giant formerly known as Twitter, is entangled in yet another legal dispute. This disagreement, involving $120 million in outstanding IT costs, has prompted a lawsuit from Taiwanese IT company Wiwynn. The lawsuit alleges that X broke a 2014 purchase agreement and was submitted to the Northern District Court of California.
Unpaid bills spark legal action
Wiwynn claims that the platform abruptly ceased all payments in November 2022, just after Musk's dramatic acquisition. The tech firm had already accumulated $120 million of server components to meet X’s orders, only to find the social media giant unresponsive and unwilling to fulfill its financial obligations. In response, Wiwynn has filed a lawsuit seeking $61 million in damages, which represents the remaining unpaid amount after they managed to recoup $59 million.
Growing list of legal battles
This isn’t the only lawsuit Musk is facing. Since he took over, X has been the center of legal conflicts, with former executives vying for millions of dollars in unpaid compensation. Despite these legal challenges, Musk has shown no signs of backing down. He's suing several advertisers, claiming they were planning to boycott X. However, the pressure on X's allegedly falling income is not relieved by this aggressive litigation effort.
A new twist
Amid these legal issues, former US President Donald Trump hinted that he might offer Musk a role in his administration if he is re-elected. In a recent interview with X, Trump lauded Musk's financial ability and made hints about the tech mogul's potential appointment to the cabinet or advisory position.
In response, Musk joked on his platform X and shared a photo of himself in front of a pedestal bearing the name "Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)," a reference to the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.
Musk may or may not be involved in a Trump government, but the idea has generated a lot of discussion and attention. The world is closely observing Musk as he maneuvers through this challenging terrain of legal disputes and political prospects, wondering what his next move will be.
