Early Life

Guy Fieri’s early life was shaped by hands-on experiences, a growing passion for food, and a drive for entrepreneurship from a young age.

  • Born as Guy Ramsay Ferry on January 22, 1968, in Columbus, Ohio, he was raised in Ferndale, a rural town in Humboldt County, California.
  • As a child, he started selling pretzels from a bicycle cart called “Awesome Pretzel” that he built with his father.
  • He washed dishes to help fund a trip to France, where he studied food and cooking as a foreign exchange student during high school in Chantilly.
  • After returning to the U.S., he worked in a restaurant at the Red Lion Inn in Eureka, California.
