On July 4, 2020, the “A Moment Like This” singer filed a divorce from her ex-husband and manager Brandon Blackstock. At first, Blackstock accused Kelly of owning over $1.4 million in commissions and demanded a $5.4 million settlement. However, the judge declined the argument and after two years of the trial, the divorce was finalized in March 2022.

 

The divorce settlement was finalized and Kelly was directed to a one-time payment of $1.3 million to Brandon and a $160,600 monthly payment including spousal support and child support combined until Jan. 31, 2024 (for only spousal support). Later it was revealed that Blackstock’s allegation of Clarkson of a $1.4 million missing commission was false while it was her ex-husband who owed Kelly $2.6 million for “unlawfully procured” business deals.
