- Honorable Mentions:
Keith Richards has been cemented in the 60s and 70s history with his influential music. With a net worth of over $520 Million, Richards sure knows how to live largely. His legendary time with the Rolling Stones aside, he has also starred in Pirates of the Caribbean films and much more. The Rolling Stones sure liked their cars and Keith Richards was not one to be left behind. His collection has largely been auctioned off over the years but it is still impressive none the less including cars like the Ferrari Dino 246 GT, the Pontiac Chieftan Convertible, the Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur, and the Ferrari 400i.
1. Pontiac Chieftan “Silver Streak” Convertible
The one car that hasn’t been auctioned off yet from Richards’ collection is his Pontiac Chieftan “Silver Streak” Convertible. Pontiac breathed new life into these cars coming into the 50s with one-piece windshields, a wraparound rear window, and beautiful “stepped” rear fenders. The curvy and sleek body also helped it portray an elegant look that was coveted by many.
It also brought a lot of options for the drivetrain which helped people customize it exactly to their liking. Richards’ Chieftain which he bought second hand, had a powerful 3.9L inline-6 engine that gave it decent acceleration and a high top speed.
Pontiac Chieftan “Silver Streak” Convertible | Specs |
---|---|
Price | $12,250 |
Powertrain | 3.9L Inline-6 |
Horsepower | 90 hp |
Torque | 178 lb-ft |
Transmission | 3-speed manual |
0-60 MPH | 23.9 seconds |
Top Speed | 78 mph |
For an over 50-year-old car, the Pontiac Chieftan “Silver Streak” Convertible seems archaic now with its 3.9L Inline-6 engine and 3-speed manual transmission. This gave the coupe a slow 0 to 60 acceleration in 23.9 seconds and a top speed of 78 mph.
Honorable Mentions:
1983 Ferrari 400i
A car that remained in Richards’ possession for decades, the 1983 Ferrari 400i was an unassuming-looking car that would blow people’s minds with its sheer power and performance. With a 4.8-liter V12 engine, the car went from 0 to 60 in just 7.3 seconds. Keith reportedly loved it and was surprised by its quick nature. Although the car was one of Keith’s favorites, it landed in an auction for a mind-blowing $345,000 with very few miles on it. Although unloved for many years, the cars have started getting a slow but faithful following and in turn appreciating in price.
Ferrari Dino 246 GT
Another former beauty in Richards’ collection was the Ferrari Dino 246 GT. It is one of the most cherished cars from the 70s and was named after Enzo Ferrari’s first son. Keith had bought the Dino as he disliked flying in general and would drive it across the US to get to his concerts. He would go on to sell his DIno 246 GT in 1986 for a whopping $560,000 to none other than Liam Howlett. The car was supremely powerful for the V6 engine that it came with and had a curvy and stylized look that was and still remains incredibly appealing.
Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur
The most infamous car in Richards’ collection was his 1965 Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur. Keith had badly crashed this vehicle when driving drunk with his girlfriend onboard but remarkably and thankfully both were okay. He affectionally called it “Blue Lina” and the car would go on to fetch $947,000 in an auction. This fine piece of British manufacturing had a powerful V8 engine that produced over 200 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque. It would accelerate from 0 to 60 in just under 12.2 seconds which is still decent for its old age. The sloping roofline and broad front grille gave it a posh and classy look which was also appreciated by many.
